Go to eat at Lassion Taverna, where also some dances can be seen dancing Cretan dances. The location of the hotel and the villas is perfect. Near but outside the city of Sitia, where you can find fine Cretan local products, such as wine, honey, and taste them also at the hotel breakfast.
People are friendly and the chef is magnificent. Everything is personal, and more than friendly, familiar. Rooms are fine, there is also swimming pool and bar.
The beach is not perfect, but it is few meters away.

Really enjoyed this place and would have no hesitation in visiting again.
Rooms are in small brick or stone "chalets" and are all on the ground floor either with a garden or sea outlook. (Sea view costs a bit more). Basic but comfortable and very quiet.
Staff are very friendly and there is a great taverna on site run by Nikolaos. Unfortunately, we were unable to stay for the traditional Cretan evening but other guests told us it was really good (and free!). For those who like swimming, there is a fantastic pool.
Not a lot in the immediate vicinity. For the usual attractions, Sitea is a few miles down the road and well worth a visit.

We were at Sitia's area for a weekend and chose Lassion for our last night there. First of all, we suppose a car is necessary, as the hotel is about 10 mins out of Sitia. In fact, a car is necessary to visit all the beauties that the yet unspoiled eastern part of Crete has. The hotel is a bit old but rather well preserved. We were given a bungalow facing the beautiful pool and the Cretan sea after that. The view from the balcony is definitely an advantage, as is the cool breeze coming from north after a hot summer day. The room's cleanliness was ok- we didn't expect anything more for the 55 euros we payed for Sunday night. As for the area, the beaches near the hotel (facing north) are not the best around. If you want something special, visit Itanos beach (other name: Erimoupoli), about 2-3 kilometres after the famous (but mediocre) Vai, or (if you have time for a longer distance) the great Xerokambos beach southeast and the hidden Ammoudi beach south (near Makrygialos, 4 kms east on the way to Goudouras, just under Cave of the Dragon tavern). Moreover, we had lunch at taverns Kakkavia and Chiona, at Chiona beach near Palaikastro. Both have great food, Chiona has better scenery but Kakkavia has better cuisine.
