Perfect seaside resort
JOLLYGOLIGHTLYon 09/06/2017 16:04What are you looking for in a seaside resort on the French Riviera? If you're looking for a gorgeous view, you've got it. Nicely renovated, clean and comfortable rooms? Check. But let me get into some details that might help you decide about visiting this lovely resort. We liked that it is on the small side, only 55 rooms. There were always available chairs by the pool, and nice big umbrellas if you choose to use them. The heated pool water was a bit brisk, but absolutely perfect for cooling down. And the pool chairs were very comfortable! I usually like padded pool chairs, but these were obviously designed for comfort.
We were on the half-board plan--breakfast and dinner--but we found eating lunch at the restaurant by the pool was a real treat. Limited menu but great food, albeit a bit expensive. Breakfast is a very nice affair, and starting your day with a delicious breakfast and stunning sea view is special. Large buffets with so many pastries, fruits, meats, cheeses, condiments and juices. Eggs and omelets made to order. Large pots of delicious coffee with hot milk were brought to the table. Even if you don't go for the half-board, go for breakfast. Well worth it. Dinner on the half board—the food is quite good, but it is the very same menu every night. There are a few other dishes to order that are extra, providing some variety. But those dishes are the same every evening as well. If you like more variety than that, there is another restaurant on the property, but it is not included in the half-board price. Perhaps book two nights at half-board, and just breakfast for the rest of your stay. Let me say this about the dinner service: Be prepared to spend a good portion of your evening in the restaurant. I wouldn't call it slow service, but it is definitely measured. There is no hurry on the part of anyone, yet you don't feel anxious because you've waited so long in between courses. Just remember you’re on vacation! Service can slow down a bit, but the hotel and restaurant had just reopened and I think the wait staff was rather new. There are nice, comfortable sitting areas with a full-service bar nearby. There’s also a lovely spa, with a friendly and experienced staff.
Housekeeping was diligent and thorough, and the front desk staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Julian in particular was charming and professional. Management, in responding to a concern, was very gracious.
But here's what's really important to know about this hotel. It inspires romance. It encourages relaxation. It's small so that you aren't walking long distances to get anywhere, yet you don't feel crowded. You can feel perfectly comfortable in just being in your own world. People are friendly and cosmopolitan, and yes we struck up conversations with some very nice and interesting people. But this resort is meant to make you feel like you are away from it all. It’s not so posh that people are posturing. The guests were casual but well-dressed, and generally low key. Definitely not a party place.
We think we had the best room in the hotel. It was #329, and had a private terrace--not just a balcony, but a large terrace. We specifically booked it and are so glad we did! There are other rooms with full terraces, but this one was a corner room that was fully open on the beach side, yet it still felt private. All rooms have automatic shades above, that draw across the terrace (balcony rooms have them also, smaller versions), and on a day we chose to spend the afternoon on our terrace after lunch, sunbathing on our private loungers, we were able to control the sun and shade because of this lovely amenity. No bugs anywhere, no mosquitoes, nothing annoying to disturb the tranquility and ambiance. There were more children than we expected, but they did not distract any more than usual. Not inexpensive, but worth it. And did I mention the gorgeous view?
Perfect location
longtravel09on 18/05/2017 16:45On a cliff just above the sea. Two beaches each side, with a few hotel's recliners on the smaller. A heated swimming pool with many recliners. The building, in the style of sixties faces the Mediterranean. Some lower floor rooms have limited sea views. The rooms have recently been renovated. Kind reception staff.
We loved the breakfast on the terrace. Unfortunately the only evening restaurant in the hotel, 'Le Loup de Mer' did not really satisfy us: the medium tournedos came as a well done steak. Menu at 58 per person. 9 Eur for a glass of wine. Waitress inexperienced.
