An Alsace gem on the river Ill

A most wonderful and picturesque hotel and restaurant outside Strasbourg on the river Ill (yes, same spelling but nothing to do with being ill, on the contrary, it's the river running through Strasbourg alongside the Rhine ! :-)
Very well appointed, large rooms, nice views, all comforts.
The restaurant is very good: we were there in their festive hall for the anniversary of a friend. We were all (50 persons) very well looked after, attentive and fast service, excellent food, good wines, joyful atmosphere.
Varied and generous breakfast.
Absolutely recommended, both for groups as well as for individual travellers!

We visited this area to attend a friend's birthday party and simply chose this as the nearest hotel.
Beautiful location and buildings. So much character. Not at all bothered by the noise of the water. It added to the character.
Fabulous service and food in the restaurant.

Overall a great stay.

One word of warning if you are from the UK. The pillows are terrible. They're not pillows. They're cushions!

We stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is in a rather remote location about 20 minutes from Strasbourg and just outside of the town of La Wantzenau. A stream runs under the building and there's a lovely garden that you can relax in. Our room was comfortable and modern but with no air conditioning. We had the windows open at night so there was a breeze coming in. We had breakfast the first morning at the hotel. I have dietary restrictions so I found it difficult to find something that I could eat but there were croissants, pastries, cold cuts, cheeses, yogurt and hard boiled eggs although there was a large tour group staying there so the selection was quite limited. All in all, it was not worth the price that was charged for breakfast. The onsite restaurant that serves dinner was closed during our stay so we were unable to try it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They were able to recommend restaurants for dinner and one in particular - Le Grillon in La Wantzenau - was excellent. The breakfast dining options in La Wantzenau was non-existent and in the next closest town of Hoenheim there's a McDonalds but it doesn't open for breakfast. There are a few patisseries in Hoenheim that open early.

A lovely hotel near Strasbourg

The hotel is in a very special building that once was a old windmill. The hotel is owned and run by the friendly granddaughter of the last Miller. The garden and surrounding are beautiful and reminded me of a postcard.
The room we got was very spacious decorated with good taste and comfortable. The breakfast was very nice.
We warmly recommend this family nice hotel.

Quiet and comfortable -high standards

We stayed here for 3 nights and used the time to explore Strasbourg and the Black Forest. We chose this hotel based on TA reviews.
It is a charming converted water mill set in a couple of acres of grounds surrounded by farmland on the edge of the pretty town of wantzenau It is quiet and comfortable. There are 20 rooms and on the ground floor there is a reception a breakfast room and a bar. Outside there is terrace and a separate restaurant building
We were given two adjacent rooms on the first floor which were reasonably furnished , very comfortable beds- the rooms were spotlessly clean and serviced each day
The restaurant was closed for two weeks while we stayed so we pick nicked on the terrace with pizzas from the nearby town. We didn't take breakfast which was extra
It was about 20 minutes to drive into Strasbourg although we were told later that there is a local tram stop with good links into the city it. Was about 30 minutes to Baden Baden ( both were fantastic days out)
