Romantic

This hotel is like a little paradise, it has a beautiful garden and there are beautiful ducks and birds. It is beautifully decorated and the rooms are luxurious and stylish, very romantic. The location of the hotel is perfect, close to Auxerre but the hotel itself is in a peaceful and quiet area.

Beautiful house, charming hosts

We stayed here only one night but my husband wanted to live there. We arrived very, very early but received a warm welcome and shown into the lounge/dining room (which is beautiful), deposited on comfy sofas and given an excellent bottle of Chablis to drink while we were waiting for our room to be ready. We were upgraded (at no extra charge) to the best room in the house due to there being a problem with the shower in the room we had booked. It overlooked the gardens with colourful flower beds, fantail doves and five small pretty chickens running around. Pre-booked dinner which was very good although I was not feeling well and could not take full advantage. No such problem for my husband who devoured all four courses - including my share. Choice of excellent wines available. Breakfast was very good although surprised not to be offered fresh eggs from the chickens!

Overnight stay en route home to UK from Italy

Its beautiful, pretty, not so easy to find. We were given the cottage (La Folie), which was nice, but the rooms were damp and one room had no door to it! All meals home cooked were delicious but expensive, as were the wines, but if you are looking for a bit of pampering this is the place. Delightful gardens and grounds, secure parking. Patricia is excellent in the cusisine dept,

Idyllic setting

Monique, the owner, was priceless. So gracious. A bit of a communication problem since we don't speak French but we got by. The Folly was cozy and comfortable. Breakfasts and dinner were excellent. Entire staff went out of their way make us feel welcome.

An absolute gem

I can only second some of the reviews here. Madame is a dear, and if you are animal lovers as we are, you cannot find a better place to stay near Auxerre. We overnighted at the property on our way to Normandy from Switzerland, and the first treat was finding the Manoir. We initially drove by and were delighted to find out that the beautiful property we had just passed turned out to be where we were staying!

The garden was beautiful and the building amazing - a additional benefit of staying in a place like this is the opportunity to gather ideas for building or interior design. Nothing reminds one of the often sterile or repetitive design of even the best hotels; one is "at home" with Madame and her charges, delightfully so!

Breakfast was plentiful, indeed, for me a bit much as I do not eat sugar or bread. But if you enjoy homemade jams, Madame provides some dozen different varieties. I broke my usual rules and tried several: they are sure to please the most discriminating palettes. And no worries - the yogurt, cheeses, and eggs took care of my peculiarities.

We will be back here more often, to enjoy the charming residence and 'le chat', and to get to know the area better.
