A good nights sleep?

I checked into the hotel earlier today for a brief overnight stop. My wife and I were escorted to our room and I asked about the air conditioning which I was assured was working. Its a delightfully located and well appointed hotel, We enjoyed an excellent dinner in the restaurant and retired early having left the air conditioning system at its lowest temperature to let the room cool down. When we returned the room was still very warm but I assumed that would change until awaking at 1 am to find it was even hotter than before and whilst the fan was on its highest speed and the dial at its lowest temperature, there was no cool air coming from the vent. We had a ground floor room that opened onto a garden area so I opened the sliding door and whilst that wasn't great for security, it did start to cool the room down to around 21 degrees C. All was well until the sound of mosquitoes flying around us meant the door had to close and so I sit here at 2 am with the air conditioning on in the vain hope that it might stay cool. No chance - its already back to 25 degrees C and is either faulty or more likely not activated. What price a good nights sleep?

Awesome experience!

We came down for the weekend. Staff was terrific. The gated and locked parking area was a huge plus for us! No ghost! The location was wonderful and everything was within walking distance. We would without question, stay here again. So should you!

Perfect for relaxing holiday

The position of this hotel is quite simply superb, half a mile from one of the prettiest villages in France and directly in front of the island's finest beach.

I always stay in one of the comfortable cottages which offer absolute peace and quiet, very difficult to find in most hotels. They all have their own garden with sun lounger, chairs and parasols. Half of these have been demolished to build apartment blocks and it is to be hoped that the few cottages which remain will be available for a few more years.

I found the staff and the other guests in the hotel both kind and friendly.

The spa is excellent. Not only is it small enough to be personal, it offers an amazing variety of treatments and cures which you would not find in a larger establishment.

There is an indoor swimming pool where there are 2 to 4 aqua gym classes every day and a beautiful outdoor pool which is also heated.

Great location

Slightly dated hotel but lovely pool and really close to the gorgeous port of la flotte- would recommend this hotel due to location, cleanliness. Didn't eat at the hotel but food looked nice- would say more adult orientated as opposed to could friendly.

Not really a 5 star hotel

We have just returned from a three night stay at Le Richelieu. We loved La Flotte and the position of the hotel. The staff were excellent and friendly. Unfortunately we stayed in a garden room which was a glorified shed! Small and in need of updating. Presumably they are hoping to knock them down to build the new self catering suites. We were woken each morning by cleaning staff going to their stores and likewise the workmen. Not pleasant if you want to lie on the loungers or sit outside your room which are not inexpensive. Likewise the breakfasts at 22euros are overpriced and in no way comparable with other breakfasts we've had in France at that price. Worth no more than 16euros. I can only assume that they can charge these prices because they are on Ile de Re. Having written all of this we did enjoy our stay but feel that other potential visitors should be aware of the short comings and not be mislead by the 5 star rating.
