After reading some of the reviews on here before going there we thought it might be like 'Fawlty Towers'!!....nothing to worry about, very polite service, beautiful relaxed atmosphere.
The barman on the afternoon we were there effortlessly served several people with utter politeness. Good wine and beer too.
My only gripe was there was some plumbing pipe work that was making a noise sometimes but it won't deter me going back
The location of the hotel is perfect, several excellent restaurants nearby (we went to The Barracuda) as well as fantastic coffee shops/patisseries for breakfast before a walk on the beach.

I am probably repeating what others have said, the view is great but the rooms need renovating and are very basic. We had a Deluxe room, 403. The good points - comfy bed, nice view, quiet at night (despite busy road below), good buffet breakfast with heaps of choice, Olivier the barman was great. The bad points - lumpy pillows (only 3 instead of 4), broken plug in bathroom sink (not draining), broken shower rail holding the nozzle so the nozzle couldnt be adjusted at all without falling onto floor, breakfast room needs repainting.

Le Royal is perfectly located on the Promenade des Anglais, just by the beaches and a few minutes walk from the Nice old town.
The facade is majestic but the hotel itself is in dire need of renovation.
There is basic bar with a little terasse looking out to the street and the Mediterraen sea but nothing really invites you to stay there. The Hotel's restaurant is nice and the breakfast plentiful though.
My room were kind of stuffy and there were no amenities to speak of. I could hear everything from the next room but the other quests were so quiet and beds great that I actually slept really well.
Since I had a really poor view to the hotel's inner yard I really did not want to spend too much time in there. But hey, the shower and toilet worked well so I stayed refreshed.
With no room service Le Royal is actually more of an upscale hostel with private rooms than a hotel.
The hotel staff was really friedly and helpful with everything, which makes my day everytime so all in all the stay was okay. And I guess the price is atleast half or even third of the prices of the other Promenade hotel's.
So in summary staying in Hotel Le Royal you stay refreshed, you don't waste your time in hotel and have little more money to spend to your adventures in cote d'azur.

I’ve book the sea view room, spacious room with nice view, although my room had no balcony, the window is big enough for me. Order breakfast in room for €15. Taxi from nice airport to hotel costs €40.

I booked a single room for a working trip. The room was small, pretty old and not very convenient (very few electricity plugs by example). This hotel is totally overpriced just because located on the "Promenade des Anglais" (which is also overrated in my opinion since it just a very busy road on a sea front...). The only good point point with this hotel is the breakfast that is very good and rich. The people at the front desk were also very nice.
