We wanted to book at Le Surf as one of us had previously stayed there, but our agent told us it was fully booked. The actual fact is that it is currently closed;not sure if this is just for renovation or if it is permanent. Parts of it look very run down indeed. We were very disappointed to see that the nice crepe restaurant that used to be above it has also closed down.

Ok....I guess...

This hotel was one of the least expensive, and the location looked pretty good. The hotel is actually run down, the wifi as good as non-existent, and I was woken up at 3am by a party in the hotel restaurant. I had actually paid extra for a sea view, so was pretty annoyed when I realised that this meant my balcony overlooked the loud party.
I booked a shuttle to the airport through the hotel, was given an incorrect time, and then was given a 5 minute warning before my shuttle turned up an hour early (with no apology). The room was clean. Only a thin blanket was available for the bed, which, given that I was there during winter season, was not enough to be actually warm.

Would have been a grand, majestic lady in her day.......

I know I am a bit late putting this review up but we actually stayed at le Surf January 2014, not Jan '15. Was a bit disappointed when first saw the room as it wasn't exactly what was portrayed on the website but our view was spectacular so we didn't mind and the staff were very friendly and obliging. We always say that as long as the bed is comfy and we can get a good nights slepp thats all taht matters. We asked for ocean views so I think that was why we had a room in what we considered must have been the older part of the hotel. So if they haven't finished refurbishing the other floors and you don't mind looking out over the pool then I think your room may be what is advertised on the website. The balcony of our room looked straight out towards Duck Island, directly opposite Colleen Excursions Taxi Boat and sitting out there each night having a drink was wonderful. Unlike some other reviewers we did not get woken up bu the patrons of the Casino. We only ate in the hotel restaurant for breakfast a few times and had dinner one night there. The food was great. The breakfast buffet was more than substantial with heaps to choose from and we thought it was value for the price. The location, for us, was central, considering we didn't have a hire car, so we were extremely grateful that the bus stopped out the front every 15 mins.

Totel renovation required

Building in poor condition - smelly carpets I hallway on level 4; old bath room needing repair, leaky tap, cracked hand basin, old shower recess. No hot water one night.
We had poor sleep caused by Casino patrons at 3 am EVERY morning and Casino air-conditioner.

majority of this place a health hazzard!!

We are in no way fussy travellers and selected this hotel for its location BUT thats where the positives end ......We called from previous accomm to see if 12 check in was ok instead of 2 because we had food with us, usually a $48 fee but reception advised this would be waved. On arrival 1 staff member was extremely rude, said pay or wait 2hrs!!. 20 mins later other staff gave us a key. BUT while the rooms themsleves were clean and comfortable the overbearing smell of mould throughout the hotel is HORRENDOUS. We were shown 2 rooms which caused headache due to the smell, my husband decided to give them a 3rd go while i waited outside because i couldnt bear to be subjected to the stench in the halls and rooms again, after about 15mins and 5 rooms later he said they found an acceptable room with outside access that had been redecorated without carpet and no smell. While the room was smell free there was no hot water 3/5 nights, tears in the sheets, very old thin towels, car access blocked to reception so we had to lug our bags in 2 trips a fair distance, wifi virtually non existant. Like you we read the reviews and thought "how bad can it be" seriously dont even consider!
