Stunning position
PedalsMovingon 10/08/2016 21:37The Hotel has a stunning outlook over the surrounding countryside, letting nature speak for itself. We received a very warm welcome from the owner & her son. The reception area is next to the kitchen & the smell of the evenings meal was mouthwatering! The room is quite small & a little passé, but comfy & exceptionally clean. We had a room with a balcony on the poolside, enabling us to enjoy the view from the room & balcony. The pool is perfect to cool off in & the village & chateau are only a couple of minutes walk away. Dinner was excellent french country style cuisine served outside on the terrace , entree of fish, lamb wrapped in filo main & a fruit based dessert. Lots of herbs, lots of flavour. Breakfast also good with scrambled eggs & excellent local cheese. Highly recommended if you are in the area👍
Location
Chris-Garrodon 02/07/2016 14:08The hotel has a quiet location with stunning views. The bedrooms are a little small and lack cupboard space. The beds are large and comfortable. The dining room and reception area are spacious with high ceilings. The hotel is very clean, and the breakfast and dinner were excellent. There is a delightful outside terrace. The swimming pool is well maintained. The lady proprietor is experienced and friendly.
Great find
JNM_LDNon 01/07/2016 09:16Stopped here on our way from the gorge du verdon region to the south coast. Excellent little hotel, we upgraded for a few euros to have a room on the south side overlooking the pool which meant we could get the last of the afternoon sun when we arrived. The breakfast was good including an omelette which we haven't had at most of the other hotels, eating on the terrace is one of the nicest settings we've seen this trip. Incredible views from round the pool and a short 5 min walk to the chateau that is great for pictures and serves excellent food. Staff are lovely and really accommodating. Would definitely come back if in the area.
A touch of Fawlty Towers....
Kyloeron 05/10/2014 12:53Sometimes in life you experience a disconnect in communications with certain people. This was the case with the good lady who I assume is the Owner/Manager of Le Vieil Amandier. As with Basil, she was an assertive sort who was right even if verging on being wrong. Customer satisfaction is not a priority! Having specifically asked for a nice view we were allocated a room on the north side of the property which i) had a wall oppressively close to the window and ii) of a size (the room not the window) that was... difficult.
More positively the location of the property is excellent for seeing the Verdon Gorge. And the food, both dinner and breakfast, very good.
An experience that will not be forgotten. Thank you!
Haute Provence - stay here
Phil Hon 05/07/2014 07:38Stay here, you will love it. The staff are fantastic, the location is beautiful, and the hotel without being luxurious is very comfortable. We wanted to walk, and the manager really went out of her way to find routes to suit us, got up early to make breakfast for us so we could get away in good time. Terrific service.
