Don't bother with all inclusive you won't eat and drink there no bar or restaurant at Lefkoniko bay everything at the Lefkoniko beach hotel. Food is 2 out of 10 caters for people who eat to survive not to enjoy bring your own shovel. Hope you like waiting a long time for anything. But what staff there is do their best. Booked hotel in January but still managefd to Double booked, me so had to spend first night in another location, but that only had a double bed have not had to share a bed with my children for years.
We liked our really spacious family room and bathroom, the room was clean and towels and linen were regularly changed, dinners were varied and tasty. Breakfasts would have been great but for coffee. Only once, when we had an early breakfast, the coffee was good. The receptionists and all the staff members were very helpful and considerate. We enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to return.
The hotel is a bit dated but clean and the rooms are spacious. We had a side view to the sea that was great. The food is excellent. We had all inclusive and we enjoyed the food very much. Great value for the money.
This review is mostly written as a response to some "negative" reviews for the Lefkoniko Bay/Beach hotels on this site.
We spent 7 wonderful days in the middle of August in Lefkoniko Bay hotel. From the beginning we were pleasantly surprised by the positive and helpful attitude of the hotel staff - receptionists at both Beach and Bay hotels who were quick to answer any questions we had and complete our requests.
Hotel's location is some 70 m from the sea, it's not facing the sea directly, but on the other side of the street - we had a room on the corner so from the balcony we could see both the sea and the swimming pool on the other side of the hotel.
The room was clean, including sheets and pillow covers. Towels were changed after three days, although the lady in charge with cleaning our room offered us to change them more frequently which was really not necessary. After coming from the beach we found the beds nicely arranged, mirrors from the closet and whole room nicely cleaned.
Food was served at Lefkoniko Beach located diagonally across the street. Restaurant service was at least 4 stars worth, there was a Swedish buffet for all the 3 meals. The food was very tasty and enough for all guests. Whenever something was over the staff members brought more of it. Yogurts, tea, milk, cereals/musli, coffee, eggs, ham, salads, cheeses, vegetables - fresh and cooked, several kinds of meat and fish, fruits, cookies, cakes and ice-cream, juices - freshly squeezed excluded but good anyway, were available.
Another thing to mention, receptionists were always kind to call a taxi for us when needed, we were never overcharged - the usual fee to the old town was 5 euros.
The swimming pool from Bay was excellent with clean water having a suitable water temperature. We didn't try the one from the Beach, but from the restaurant we could see it looked nice with same clean water.
AC and the hair dryer were OK, recommend renting the room safe for all your goods for 2 euros per day.
Just to summarise, we didn't find anything to complain about, the whole experience was much better than expected taking into consideration some reviews from the past years.
Although it's rated as 3.5 it could easily get 4 stars.
Thank you Lefkoniko staff for everything, keep doing a great job :-) !
We arrived at the hotel at 2.00 in the morning. All we wanted was to get some sleep. We had to go to another hotel across the street to get the room keys as there was no receptionist in our hotel, no lights in the corridors and searched for our rooms using our hands and our mobile lights. Our child was supposed to have a room right next to ours but instead he was put two floors above. The rooms were not so clean with coackroaches and a smell of dampness. The next morning one of the staff members was very polite and apologetic and promised to make new arrangements. The next moment a man walks in out of nowhere and without introducing himself he verbally attacked us , grabbed my handbag with all my credit cards, money, mobile phone etc and threw it in the street. His wife looked very frightened and upset but was kind enough to ran out and bring it back. He was screaming and swearing at us just because we complained the previous night about the whole situation. The impression he made on the other tourists was so obvious as they were literally running in a panic out of the lobby area.Later we found out that he was one of the hotel directors. We were disgusted and disappointed but decided not to ruin our holiday so on the same day we moved out to a four star hotel very near and had a wonderful time. We travel around the world since many years but never had such an awkward experience. Well, there's always the first time! :) Crete is beautiful and is worth the visit!! Just keep away from toxic people and places. :) enjoy!!
