Decent stay in city centre location
macedonboyon 17/06/2017 22:29Stayed one night.
The room I got was spacious and looked like it had been recently renovated to modern decor with a conformable chair, table to work on, plus a few seats dotted around the room. It was a hot and humid day, so it was a shock to discover that the room did not have A/C. The room does come supplied with a fan, which took about an hour to cool the room down. Most importantly it cooled the room enough to sleep comfortably. The room also smelt of I think smoking even though it was a non smoking room. The room also had a kettle and coffee/tea supplied, which was a nice.
The bed was okay and seem to have been 2 single beds pushed together, that or the mattress had a lumpy seam all down the middle. So I ended up sleeping on just one side of the bed. The bed also came with 2 thin square shaped pillows that seem to be so popular Belgium. Ended up stacking the 2 together as I prefer a thicker pillow.
Location wise, the hotel is about 10 minutes walk to the Charleroi Sud and the main bus station. Pretty straightforward to get from there to the hotel. As with most cities around the world, there's homeless people around the city centre and the walk will involve walking past a few. Both day and night. They're mostly harmless and don't seem to bother the tourists of people in general. As it's in the city centre, there's plenty of choices for eating. The hotel is only about 10 minutes walk to the Charles II place, but uphill. Proximity to the station makes life easy.
Staff were excellent and friendly.
Oh dear, oh dear!
Carl Mon 10/05/2017 07:39Hmmmm, let's start with the plus points, right done with that.
The hotel is very tired both in decoration and the furnishings, like most leonardo hotels the breakfast is over priced and underwhelming, the twin rooms are small with a wardrobe that you could fit half a dozen bodies in, it overwhelms the room. There seems to be an air conditioning control box in the room but no vent, so perhaps it's just a decoration. I was planning to go on at length about how shoddy this place is, but on reflection it's not worth the effort! That should be the tag line 'it's not with the effort'
It waz good enough
DanielleSmith38on 19/01/2017 14:52It waz a good stay special for the airport shuttle witch waz useful.
The walls where very thin and we could hear everything like EVERYTHING!.. wich waz not nice specialy for family with kids..but it waz a warm room, not durty, just enough for the price we paid for it.
Clean, tidy but poor air-con
Foobyon 01/09/2016 23:23Was a little worried about staying here based on previous reviews, but it was nice. We stayed 5 nights during the F1 Francorchamp Grand Prix at spa. We paid £40 per night and we're allocated a suite on the 4th floor. We arrived quite late as we booked a late flight from Manchester. Drove here in our rental car. I was conscious of the possibility the hotel would be hard to find, but it was easy using Sat Nav. You need to drive past the hotel when it's on your right and take the next 3 right hand turns to come back on yourself and is there on your left. Parking on street and plenty at the back of the hotel. Reception provided a friendly easy check in. 2 lifts to use. Our room was nice and clean, spacious with a settee (that laid flat and could be used as a bed) and double sofa chair and coffee table. A side unit with 2 wooden chairs, double wardrobe and mini bar fridge (empty) and kettle. The beds are quite soft and dipped a little, but we're comfy enough. The floors are solid so there's no creaks or sounds from above or below. I could hear some noises from the construction site next door, and doors closing etc but just used earplugs to block out the sound on a night. Didn't have breakfast or visit the bar, but they seemed nice and the terrace outside the bar looked like a relaxing place to sit if you wanted out of your room. Free WiFi which was a good speed, it wasn't supposed to be strong enough to stream, but we watched a couple of English programmes on utube and they were fab. The key card can be tricky and doesn't always work 1st time, but if you ensure the pic of Leonardo is facing left and push and pull slowly the green light will display gaining entry.
Friendly Leonardo
ohare31on 07/08/2016 15:31My wife and I stayed here for one night with our dog .
We were made to feel welcome on arrival and there was not a problem with us having a dog with us.
The hotel was a little awkward to find because there is quite a lot of building work going on in and about the city.
Our room was on the first floor and was very clean and comfortably the bathroom had a bath and shower and hair drier all very clean.
The bed was comfortable with extra pillows provided.
Tea and coffee with a kettle were available.
We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both were excellent.
The train and airport are both with in easy reach.
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
We would stay there again no problem.
Do not let the building work in the city put you off staying there you cannot make an omelette with out breaking eggs.
