House with a big potencial..
D0rottaon 28/09/2015 15:24... but it seems that the host doesn't care neither for the house, nor for the guests. :/
The phone number given on the www dosn't work so it is almost a miracle to communicate with the host. And be carefull; you can open EVERY room with ONE key !
Convenience plus!
Sandi Non 01/12/2014 13:01While not the most spectacular of places, our visit to Leone di Sant'Anna was based on convenience (being close to one of the wall entrances) and as a rest stop on a month long trip (there is a Laundromat across the road - very convenient and easy to use!).
We had a 4 person room that was functional enough. Found the pillows were really flat, but the staff were very accommodating in providing extras for us. The bathroom was quite small and I think the shower was the smallest I had encountered so far - the rose even fell off while I was using it!
Had a new flatscreen TV which worked for a little then stopped. Staff again came to our rescue and got it working again. Same with the little bar fridge which they happily exchanged for another.
Breakfast was a bit hit and miss. The food was quite basic, but when well stocked was very adequate... only found that some mornings there was only half of the previous mornings supplies, and chairs were at a premium.
Feel free to ask if you need more, as instead of bagging the place, give them the opportunity to make things right!
Lovely little garden where we brought home some pizza, meat, cheese & vino for a picnic - lovely evening.
Friendly staff who assisted with taxis and any information you require. We wouldn't mind staying again.
Avoid, it's awful and will make you homesick within minutes
jaci10on 08/11/2014 16:43I stayed here a while ago and it was one of my worst ever travel experiences, which is why I've belatedly written a review. Lucca is beautiful but this place is dreadful- dirty, mould growing around the room, broken furniture and walls so thin that the man snoring in the next room kept me awake every night. I was travelling alone and felt tired and scared.
To be avoided if you are on budget
Javi Ron 19/08/2014 13:39At first it seems to be a nice small hotel (which is if you pay for a good room), as it is also a backpackers hostel what consists on a room in the basement (where the family lives) humid and dark, where there are about six berths and a sofa-bed, the access is through a small door in the garden. If you decide to stay in you might expect bugs...
Staff is far from being friendly and also it's not close to the centre or the railway station.
To be avoided.
Nice room but...
Sabine Eon 25/06/2014 08:20The room is nice, clean and reasonably quiet and not too far from the center of town. Staff is pleasant. When I tried to call if I could leave my luggage or check in earlier the phone number given on the web site was no longer active. I was not sure if the place still existed and had to go to the tourist office. Also the very restrictive check-in policy (2pm to 8 pm) was a problem, I would have preferred to do a day trip rather than waiting around in Lucca to check into a hotel.
