What People are saying

Under our expectation

ND0727on 12/08/2017 02:18

We stayed midJuly for 3 nights with 2 children.

We booked this hotel (2 connecting room)since it was recommended by one of our friend. However, we were very dissapointed by the very old and dark room and obnoxious service..

First night, when we were checking in rather late at night, we found that TV and telephone were not working, heaters were not controllable, and quite dusty around the bed. It should not be like this if they are 5 star hotels... ?

The room was so dark that even I put all the lights on, I could not see vey well inside my suitecase.

We were upgrated to the individual villa after we explained our dissapointement, but even so, the villa was very dark - my kids found one dirty winter sock left inside the sofa.

This hotel is good for people who love to feel "winter atmosphere" in summer time in France. You will certainly feel that specially at night.

We were certainly not one of them so we will not choose this hotel again.

I will put 3 stars since some staffs were nicer than others, but my husband would put 2 stars, since we were so used to 5 star services in Asia.

Great authentic 5 star hotel in Megeve

Excellent decoration using original farmers house materials / chalet furniture & rebuilt in village of Megeve. Lots of charm & very familial. We stayed in a Junior Suite for a family of 4, room is spacious. Excellent restaurant & alot of non hotel guests come to dine here. The spa is also excellent, with 2 jacuzzis, 2 pools, sauna, spa menu is comprehensive using their own branded products. Every Wednesday they host a 1/hour hike & lunch in their L'Alpage mountain hut. Authentic, amazing & convivial lunch we did today. Concierge is extremely helpful & well trained, would highly recommend this to families.

Best possible stay as a family

Wonderful hotel. Ideal for families with small children. Superb staff and one of the best concierge services in the world making a your stay unforgettable. Relaxed luxury! It is perfectly located in Megeve, secluded yet very close to the village. That was an unforgettable stay. The amenities were perfect, and the staff made an unexpected huge difference

Beautiful and relaxing

We stayed as a couple for 5 nights in July 2017 on a walking holiday. We had never been to the Alps in the summer and were concerned that our holiday wasn't going to have the same atmosphere as a skiing holiday does in the winter with snow and lights, etc.

We needn't have worried. The village, the walking and the hotel were all fantastic.
We loved the hotel, which, with its grounds, was gorgeous. The hotel comprises a collection (I'm tempted to say seven) of traditional wooden buildings surrounded by lovely planting. Huge effort has been put into the grounds, which were full of flowers and colour.

Our room (Room 413, see the photos) was not huge, but was one of the nicest rooms we have stayed in. It had fantastic views of the hills and mountains in the distance and was probably as secluded a room as you can get - beware, some of the rooms are fairly open in that they are on the ground floor and on the way to the main building and have french doors.

The only issue with our room was that the bathroom and separate loo were fairly small and did not have any natural light. Saying that, the rest of the room more than made up for it. Also, there was no shower curtain in the bath (there was an over bath shower), which I always find a little weird. We were provided with free water in the room, which was a nice touch, and was replenished each morning.

We didn't use the spa or the pool, though noted that there are loads of treatment rooms and a separate area (and pool) for adults.

Breakfast was a real treat. We ate outside every morning with self-service breakfast being served in a separate room to the main restaurant. Like the rest of the hotel, I would class it as rustic chic. There were cooked options, cereals, fruit, meats and cheese, pastries and lots of different types of bread. We really loved it. The only issue is that, as you are in France, there is a good chance, as happened to us, that you may find yourself sitting next to someone who is onto their third cigarette by 8am. It is pretty off putting.

We ate dinner in the hotel once, which was nice, although we both had the same starter that we did not particularly like.

The bar, where we went for drinks after that dinner, is atmospheric (as is the restaurant).

I have seen reviews that comment adversely on the service. Our experience was that the staff were incredibly friendly. Our room was kept spotless, as was the rest of the hotel. The gardens are immaculate. But particular mention and thanks must go to Ben and Karim, the concierges, who gave us maps and planned walking routes for us, and to Quentin who drove us to the lift on several mornings. They went out of their way to help.

Megeve is a lovely village. There are lots of lovely restaurants and places to walk to. The views are stunning. We were there for the independence celebrations, which meant there were lots of people around and it was really 'buzzy', although not many up in the mountains. After the weekend, when everyone cleared out, it went back to being a sleepy, sunny summer Alpine village biding its time until the ski season starts.

The whole trip was definitely one to be repeated.

Nothing more to say than "excellent". Great room, impeccable service, and high quality food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). The spa facilities were compact but relaxing, and even when the hotel was seemingly very busy the spa/pool etc never felt over-crowded.
