What People are saying

nice place, but restaurant overpriced

lovaniensis on 13/09/2017 10:39

Nicely located...like 10 kms from Giverny so no massive crowds around, and pricing for the hotel rooms is ok. Nice park around the place, quiet. Old bourgeois place well converted in hotel, great grounds around it.
But the catch is there are no other restaurants within walking distance (at least we found none) so you have to eat at the hotel. And whereas the food is quite ok, the pricing is more in line with a Michelin starred place, which the food is definitely not. Almost 400 € for a 4 persons' dinner, and we had only 1 bottle of wine for the 4 of us. And it was no Lafite.

No, much as we enjoyed staying here on our way to Giverny, they will not see us again here.

So much potential but sadly wasn't good enough

Visually this hotel is gorgeous. The buildings and grounds are well maintained but sadly this establishment needs much improvement.

Positives:
Food and drink on sight is lovely but ridiculously expensive.
Free bicycles available.
Clean, spacious rooms.
Staff are helpful and friendly but getting a drink in the bar is very slow.
Gorgeous peacock wondering around.
For those up for it, you can try an 18 mile bike ride (round trip) to the beautiful Monet gardens.

Negatives:
Unless you have a car you are pretty stranded. There are no restaurants or supermarkets close by.
Sunday pm - the staff disappeared.
No fridge in room.
The hotel could do a lot more with their grounds e.g. A Tennis court is displayed on their site map but it doesn't exist. Adding sports facilities would make sense!
There is no gym or spa just a tiny sauna and steam room for 2-3 people max!
The bar is unmanned. Very slow service when drinks are requested via reception.
Never saw or heard a pianist at the piano in the dining room.
The pool hours are odd and very restrictive 9-11 and 3:30-6:00.
On Sundays and Mondays the hotel restaurant is closed.
Sundays- reception desk is unmanned- very unhelpful. No staff to be found anywhere!
Wifi is poor and codes must be obtained via reception every 2 days.

Sadly, I would not recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel and surroundings, basic spa

vanilic on 10/08/2017 18:06

The surroundings of the hotel and the various buildings themselves are very picturesque, with a bridge over the river taking you to a building where some of the rooms are located. The rooms are rather small (we got the basic one) but beatifully decorated and the bathrooms are amazing, with marble, and fully furnished with bathrobes and slippers. The bathtub is huge but there is not a lot of hot water if you want to have a shower. The beds are very comfortable and we slept very well. Breakfast was nice with a lot of good products and juices however they don't refill anything so my advice is to get there early. Also some products like bread and saucisson were left to be cut by the guests and I considered this unhygienic so didn't have any of these. The spa facilities are only accessible for a limited amount of time and are quite basic. There is a sauna and a hammam that are quite small, it's better if only one couple goes there at the time, especially in the hammam/steam room where one of the seats can burn your legs so watch out for the seat just by the entrance. And inbetween you can use the swimming pool located in the middle of the dining room which is odd but looks amazing. Watch out while walking inbetween the sauna and swimming pool as the surfaces are slippery. I went there with friends as a relaxing getaway (and a visit of Giverny which is nearby). I would highly recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway. There is not only Giverny nearby but a few other nice and picturesque towns.

Sleeping in a stable never felt so good

traveler77256 on 25/09/2016 13:32

Near the end of a two-week road trip, we wanted a hotel a short drive from Charles de Gaulle airport. Deciding to drive from Normandy to Paris via Giverny, we found Les Jardins online and were amazed when we arrived at the gates. The estate is beautiful, with peacocks and flowers and fountains.

Our room was in the converted stable, half way between the secure car park and the main building. A bit convoluted to get into, as the door opened to a steep staircase; I kept a light on in the bathroom, so we wouldn't inadvertently fall off the top step in the night. Comfortable, with both a spa tub and a separate shower. (Water on the floor was a bit of a challenge.)

This is a luxury hotel and restaurant, and one pays accordingly. But the atmosphere after a long trip is absolutely worth it.

Dinner around the pool is a subdued affair, but breakfast in the small, black-velvet room is quite cozy. We disturbed some of the staff having an early dinner when we entered the bar around 6:45 p.m., but they stopped to serve us. I still am curious as to why the French charge gin-and-tonics as two separate beverages.
