Bellevaux is a small village located about a 30-min drive from Thonon-les-Bains. Les Moineaux is an excellent option if you are looking for a quiet place in the low mountain area near Lake Geneva.
The hotel building is separated from the restaurant building where the owners are staying. When you arrive at the hotel reception, you need to call them with the reception phone.
The hotel building looks like a typical chalet but it is in fact a very stylish building with lots of facilities such as a heated pool, a tennis court, a gym or a sauna. Rooms are currently being renovated, most of them (if not all) have a balcony with a pleasant view.
The in-room Wi-Fi is ok. There is no air-conditioning, which could be a problem during hot summer days, although you can easily sleep with the window open.
The hotel restaurant is very good value for money, especially if you stay in the hotel as you have half-board and full-board options.
This is a 2-star hotel but it deserves 3 stars.

This is a really well run hotel.
The accommodation is in a block a few metres away from the restaurant but it is such a quiet and pleasing stroll, you never mind the walk. The views from the pool of the surrounding mountains and the swirling swallows and black kites are unforgettable, as is the hospitality.
We had a bit of an issue when we arrived in that our car had broken down and was about to be towed into Switzerland for repair! But with the help of the staff, they found a local garage to do the work, and took us there to pick up the car when repaired. Also the chef took us in her car up in to the village to pick up the bus one day while we were without car. This is service you don't get in most hotels!
Wonderful food in the restaurant, and always served with a smile and an enquiry into your day from the hostess.
Also well equipped with a a small gym, sauna, tennis court and pool. All hardly used, although some times children from the summer camp (the hotel's other main activity) did use the facilities.
Cannot recommend this place enough for fantastic location and warmth of welcome.

this hotel is a real gem. the family who run the business are utterly charming and they just can't do enough for you. the food is cooked by the delightful Valerie, whose attention to detail is faultless. Special diets are catered for with unusual ease for France. the rooms are simple but spotlessly clean..Bellevaux is a wonderful little village set in a pretty valley (Bellevaux means 'beautiful valley). Many people who stay in this hotel return year after year and are treated like close friends of the family. we can't wait to return!

The hotel's restaurant has some of the best food I've ever had, and the service is excellent. They are happy to attend to any needs you might have - my dad is intolerant to gluten, and so they got him fresh gluten free bread (that doesn't taste like cardboard), for every meal. The day we left, they gave us a picnic for the journey home, as we wouldn't be there through lunch.
The rooms are simple, but functional. There's plenty of space for the whole family (there are 6 of us!), and you'll be out all the time anyway, appreciating the mountains around you.
The family also owns the local ski hire, which makes it really easy to organise any equipment. Short drive from the ski resort.
We've been here twice now, because it's such a nice place to stay!

Situated in a valley not far from Geneva but a world away! Wonderful views unspoilt by the overdevelopment in nearby Portes du Soleil ski resorts combined with a pristine pool, good food and faultless service. Excellent half board will probably cost you less than a good meal in a ski resort and the wine is at prices most of France has sadly forgotten. Some of the very clean
rooms may be a little dark for the taste of some, but if that is the only criticism you can make then you know this hotel is a real find! In fact if the proprietor Madame Valerie was not so charming, we would have been tempted to tell nobody! So try it, but please let us confirm our own booking first!
