Historic Old Town
gandyworldwideon 05/08/2017 18:20Visited Boppard today. Roman remains and medieval town walls mix with a number of interesting buildings. Look out for the two red English telephone boxes near the opticians used as glasses display cases. Took boat trip ftom here around to Lorelei which has english commentary and a reasonably priced restaurant
A good outing
MapleFoot72on 28/09/2016 18:02The rail ride has little to see due the vegetation height.. The hike back to Boppard is enjoyable thru the woods..
Nice little train
Annefromirelandon 31/05/2016 10:21Nothing much to see at any of the stops if you get off. There are walking trails if that's your thing. I think I expected to be up in the mountains but in fact you are just up a hill to villages. We thought we could walk back down to Boppard on what was billed as a cycle track but after a km this just disappeared and one would be on the road. Not a good outing really.
dissapointing hour
Annie Don 08/11/2015 17:13I've rode the Hunsrïckbahn from Boppard to Emmelshausen. The views weren't as spectacular as expected. Since there is not much to see or to do in Emmelshausen, I took the very same train right back to Boppard. I consider this train ride back and forth as dissapointing. There are a lot of nicer things to do and see around Boppard than Hunsrückbahn.
Glad I read trip advisor
Ann Oon 27/10/2015 10:44I am so glad I read other comments before I went, because I not unlike others thought it was going to be a historical train, travelling up to an enormous altitude, whilst viewing viaducts and tunnels incorporating unforgettable views. It is simply being over sold, but is a wonderful experience. It is a local train serving three local towns which have clear evidence of factories and industry. I saw no tunnels or viaducts, no obvious altitude, but the views of the trees were magnificent, the autumnal colours were unmissable . I would go again.
