Watch the sharks
EvanLewison 16/06/2017 11:49This is not your huge hotel with hundreds of rooms and luxury appointments. It is a bit more down to earth and that is the way we like it. The current owners Rolland and Edmay are very friendly and helpful. We had a single unit with a thatched roof, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen with full facilities. It looked straight out onto the lagoon where there was a long zig-zag jetty. Personally I would be very hesitant to swim there. Each evening Rolland goes out with a wheelbarrow load of fish heads and feeds the sharks. Quite a site to see. Lots of black tip shark and nurse sharks which are pretty big. The local fish do not seem at all afraid of the sharks. I spent hours on and under the jetty photographing fish with an ordinary DSLR camera and got some nice photos.
Although some sites like Booking.com say no meals are possible, the truth was quite the opposite. They brought breakfast and dinner to our room where we ate outside under a thatched veranda. It is interesting to try some local foods for breakfast. I had swordfish for dinner one night. It is not a criticism of this location when I say the fish was dry as though it had been frozen. It was exactly the same at every hotel and restaurant in the Cook and Tahitian Islands. Quite disappointing for a New Zealander used to eating really fresh moist fish.
I would recommend this location for anyone wanting to avoid the impersonal atmosphere of a big hotel.
We couldn't have asked for anything more
nicolettej678on 31/05/2017 04:42Linareva met all of our expectations and more.
It is a wonderful resort property on the south side of Moorea, among jungle like vegetation, quiet nights filled with the sound of lapping waves and bird calls.
My wife and I loved every minute we were there. The owners are delightful, accommodating and generous. This is true luxury for those seeking tranquility, beauty and a natural environment from which to explore the island. The coral reef a few hundred feet past the dock could be explored for days and days. The bungalow we stayed in, #5, was exactly what we hoped to live in for the week we enjoyed this wonderful home away from home. We couldn't have been happier to be there or more sorry to leave. I highly, highly recommend you do yourself a favor and book into a little piece of true paradise while visiting this gem of an island.
Amazing Relaxed Holiday
Adakinsonon 19/05/2017 21:08Residence Linareva is amazing! My wife and I stayed in beach bungalow #8 and had a wonderful time. The bungalow is huge (like an apartment) and has a great kitchen that allows you to look out over the water while you cook.
The bedroom had a super comfy bed and it was nice to have air conditioning in the bedroom at night.
The first evening we arrived the owner threw some fish heads off the dock and there was an epic shark feeding that included 5 large nurse sharks, numerous black tip sharks and 3 stingrays. It was so awesome!!!
The property is beautiful and really well maintained. We snorkelled off the dock and the corals and fish were great.
The location is remote but you can get a pick up for several restaurants and there are two grocery stores a short bike ride away (there are free bikes). There is a pizza place just next door that has a wood fired oven and great pizza.
Owners are very organized, helpful and knowledgable.
Overall, we loved our stay and found it truly relaxing. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone travelling on Moorea.
Wonderful location and friendly staff!
Ellen Son 10/04/2017 14:10We stayed in the garden bungalow #6 for 5 nights. It had a wonderful view of the garden and the Pacific. The owners and staff were so nice and friendly! Shark feeding 2 nights was incredible!!! The long dock made sunset viewing great. Snorkeling from the dock was quite good. The only drawback with Linareva was that breakfast and dinners ( you have to order them ahead of time if you want them) were quite expensive. We took advantage of breakfast 2 mornings ($15 each) but no dinners because they were about $40--too expensive for our budget. Wifi connection was virtually nonexistent. But--- I highly recommend this resort for people looking for an "off the beaten path" experience.
Trip of a lifetime with my dad
Natalie Fon 15/02/2017 19:38The staff was super friendly at Linareva and the resort was just beautiful with the mountains in the background. I prefer the less touristy locations and it was a perfect choice. Liz brought us a huge fruit tray our first day to celebrate my dad's birthday. We had a car to drive around the island during the mornings and then spent the afternoons relaxing on the beach, snorkeling from the pier, or kayaking. Watching the nurse sharks feed was incredible. We could take photos of the spectacular beach sunsets from our patio and the star gazing at night was unbelievable. The staff was all exceptional and welcoming and there was an honor bar with all types of beverages. We had dinner catered the first night which was delicious. Moustache the cat sat on my lap each day after breakfast so I wouldn't miss my own cats. The queen of the night flower which only blooms once a year at night was getting ready to open just outside my room but I had to leave before I was able to see it. I would love to come back again with my husband.
