Outstanding Hotel - Great Location and Very Reasonably Priced
whskymanon 09/05/2017 22:29My wife and I arrived after hours, and as others have mentioned, used the prearranged door code to enter, took procession of our keys and went to our room (#4). It was the fabulous corner room overlooking a canal. The bed was perfect - not worn out. The bathroom was updated, but the only negative thing is the size of the shower (kinda small). Monica delivered breakfast to our room every morning and was so very helpful in providing directions or recommendations - she was a real professional. The location of the hotel is great - close to practically everything (even a mere 22 minute walk to the train station). We will definitely stay there again when we return.
Great value, Great location
MissEm83on 10/04/2017 22:03We were first impressed by the very good location - we arrived by vaporetto to the Fondamenta Nuove (A) station from the airport. Be sure to make note of which port this is, as our instructions just said 'port A' and so were slightly unclear. The waterbus (Vaporetto) station is very close, so excellent way to travel around the Islands and down the Grand Canal. Locanda Acquavita was in an superb, delightfully quiet area of Venice, away from the bustling crowds, but a close walk to the Rialto Bridge, and excellent restaurants. Also this is a neighbourhood that many of the locals live in, which is very cool! Be sure to print off the hotel access code in advance of arrival, as there is no front desk. We were lucky to have others staying at the accommodation who let us in when we arrived, and we passed the favour on to another couple staying there when they arrived - otherwise it could be a long and tired wait to be let into your rental. Beds were comfortable, with many pillows, and our junior suite had a small breakfast table we could enjoy breakfast at privately each morning. Monica was helpful, and accommodating and served breakfast at 8:30, 9:00 or 9:30a.m. at your request. If you hope for an early start or have travel connections needed, be sure to let her know in advance, as she prepares breakfasts for all rooms. Check out the bar on the Ponte Cavallo (Bridge Cavallo), a nearby walk away in a cool piazza, and enjoy a glass of wine or ciccetti street-side along with the locals. Wine here was well priced at 2Eur/ glass or around that. We loved staying at this accommodation for the location, free breakfast (sufficient, and it definitely saved us some cash!), and the privacy. A few of the fixtures were a little worn, and a few windows didn't open, but for the price we paid and the size of the room, it was well above value! Wifi was sometimes a little spotty.
Great value and excellent location
ChristoWatsonon 24/02/2017 17:05This hotel has just five rooms and is in a quiet street in the Cannaregio district. Reception is manned until 3pm, after which you access the property with en entry code (emailed in advance) and the keys are waiting for you inside. Everything went smoothly and the room was comfortable and surprisingly spacious, given the bargain rate we were given.
The location, on Calle Venier, is excellent. The vaporetto (water bus) stop 'Fondamente Nove' is just a few minutes walk away and is handy as it links directly to the airport as well as most of the routes you might need in Venice. We were given room 4, with a good canal view (the property backs directly onto a quiet canal). The room was straightforward, airy and comortable, though perhaps a little tired - this however, seems to be a theme in many local and affordable hotels in the area.
A light continental breakfast is delivered to the room by brisk but friendly staff.
If you are looking for affordable accommodation in the quiet Cannaregio district, great transport links and a quiet night's sleep, this hotel is recommended.
What a Gem!
willowrose028on 20/01/2017 22:36I had originally booked off Island accommodations for my week in Venice. I'd never been before, and I thought staying somewhere quieter would be a good balance for all the sightseeing I'd be doing. While my original accommodations were just fine, after three days of riding the bus to/from the mainland, I knew I'd made the wrong choice. During my wanderings around Venice, I'd very much liked the Fondamente Nove area - easy to reach on foot and via water taxi from all the 'main' areas, yet nice and quiet with delightful places to drink and eat.
I logged onto Travelocity on a hunt for someplace to stay in the area that was reasonable (I would not be getting a refund from my original lodging, but it was worth it to me to move to make the most of my remaining week in Venice) that had availability at the last minute. I wasn't expecting or asking much at that point - just to be closer and not break the bank. I read the reviews for the Locanda Acquavita on here and it seemed decent enough and fit my requirements.
I arrived early on my check in day - more than happy to just check in and deliver my luggage - and was very pleased with the look of the hotel and beyond happy with Stasia at the front desk - she was fantastic! I was able to leave my belongings right away and continue with my adventures without hauling around bags.
The hotel itself is very cute and has very few rooms. There is a code to get in after the afternoon hours as others have mentioned but I never had any issues with lighting. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom and shower had more than enough space. I had a fantastic corner room on the second floor and slept with my windows open - it was very comfortable and there were no noise problems at all.
Breakfast was delivered in the morning - a bit later than this early bird (on vacation only!) would have liked - but it was good - basic and filling - with excellent coffee. Stasia had excellent suggestions of off the beaten path places to visit, which were perfect for me. The hotel is very close to great places to eat and the friendliest wine bar I've ever visited. I felt perfectly safe walking alone to/from the hotel after dark.
When I return, the Locanda Acquavita will definitely be at the top of my list for places to stay!
Great value at a great location in Venice.
Domien Son 11/12/2016 16:58The hotel has a great quiet location but still close so you can walk to everywhere. The free breakfast is great. The room was nicely decorated. But it could do with a bit of freshening up. It smelled a little. Everything else was fine tough. The lady who runs the place is amazing and really friendly. I think she loves her job. Considering this is Venice the hotel offers a great value for money so I would recommend staying here.
