What People are saying

Nice place to stop for night or two

Cosy little place a little bit middle of nowhere. Great selection of whiskies and beers in the pub. Good breakfast. Friendly and authentic atmosphere. Clean rooms and ok facilities. Enough parking places.

Nice

Nice place to stay! the old saying don't judge a book by its cover applies here as it didn't look great from the outside but when we got in my opinion changed. Friendly staff good pool table good pint of cider - lager wasn't so great unfortunately would Defo stay again

A narrow escape

We booked this hotel and ended up paying for it as these were the conditions via booking.com. On arrival we were shocked by the state of the place, broken windows, paint peeling and an extension/sunroom literally falling off the side of the building. We had never seen such a ropey looking hotel. There was a man tentatively scraping at the paint outside who pointed out how to access the building( the obvious door was blocked up) We wondered if it would be ok inside so went in to have a look. The welcome was cool and a bit basil fawltyish and the inside was dated and musty. We were shown the bar which was also unloved and depressing. We immediately knew that to stay would be a sorry way to spend our precious free time but we were told that we were obliged to pay no matter what we thought of the room. We paid then were shown the room and sure enough it was smelly, depressing, small, dilapidated and dated with a very lumpy looking bed. We fled and didn't return, losing £75. The idea of the place still haunts.

Do not go to this hotel

We were looking for a country hotel to book a weekend family gathering thought we would try this hotel. What a mistake!!
Unhelpful/ unpleasant man in foyer
(I've since learned that this was perhaps the owner) Definitely not people friendly!
Foyer smells of damp so goodness knows what the rest of the place is like.
I'm not surprised it's up for sale if that's how they have been treating potential customers.

Oh Dear

The time has passed for this hotel it is difficult to know where to start.
The smile from the proprietor at reception didn't exist, the welcome was missing, along with room comfort, no further smiles came from the barman, cans of beer or coke were better than the stale draught - though plenty of whisky brands available, all food products are of the low quality variety - being so isolated does restrict options to eat anywhere else.
Would not be on my preference list !
