Fawlty Towers vers. 2.0

We need an overnight stay and found this place at Rechs + Links the autobahn and we checked by telephone if they had a vacant family room, which they confirmed.

When we arrived we was the only guests there and we were welcomed by a person in shorts and flip flaps and the smell indicates that he had for sure not taken a shower this day ( and probably not the day before either!)

He showed us a small room for € 105 per night, but as it was late we accepted this, even that all warning signs was up.

When we asked to see the menu card, he told us that he only had a fixed menu and when we asked what it was, he told us that he have not decided this yet.

When we ordered, he served a 1,5 cm pic of most probably canned ham, with a carrot, a little pc. of cucumber and a few leaves of lettuce.

The he ask if we want to have beef or fish and my vine decided to have beef and my daughter and I decided to jump over more risks with the food and said that we would not have anything more.

I think you have all guessed that the beef was terribly and totally red inside and it came with over cooked pasta and with canned mushrooms!!!! (In France where all vegetables are fresh just around the corner and the mother to all kitchens!!!)

So my wife give up too and did not want any desserts and he asked if we do not like the food and I reply him that it was very far from the French coucine I have ever tasted and he reply me that it was probably due to the heat 😃

Before he explained that a 3 course menu cost was € 24, but for the above we payed € 24 for my wife's two dishes and € 32 for 2 portions of starter.

All the time the person who welcomed us went around talking to him self probably complaining about his guests as Basil Fawlty and that's what I refer to in my header (he was the only person there, so he operate the kitchen as well in his un-washed condition)

My best advice, don't go there!

Don't stay too long!

Le patron was friendly enough, but we arrived on a Sunday evening to find that the restaurant was closed. Sadly restaurants nearby were also closed which was not what he advised us. The room was larger than standard, but it was still small, the clothes rack was in need of glue and the separate WC had a broken light bulb. Breakfast was average. The bed was very firm leading to a not very restful nights sleep.
