    What People are saying

    Soon finished

Great stay, I only gave 4 stars as the hotel was just coming out of a major refurbishment so not all facilities were available but on the other hand some nights there were only about 30 people staying in a 400 room hotel so service was very good and friendly, the manager went out of his way to make amends giving us a couple of meals, looking forward to returning when the refurb is finished!! 😎 🦁

    A unique experience

The property being on an island is itself a big attraction. It is serene and well served by a motor boat that operates every 20 minutes round the clock. At present, the diminished occupancy in hotels all around Egypt is affecting the cash flows but that’s not denting the spirit of the staff. All of them are more than eager to help at any hour of the day. One should feel free to talk to them. Special mention of the GM Mr. Fekri who made our stay memorable.

Location, excellent service and very affordable.

I love this hotel, it is an oasis in Aswan, which has a charm like no other place in Egypt. If you are in need of a little R & R, Aswan is the place for you. Just take a walk around the grounds of the hotel, the setting is beautiful and in about half an hour you will be stress free. The gardens are really lovely.

It has been a few years since I stayed at the hotel. I chose Isis Island because I enjoyed it so much last time and the price was so cheap.

From the minute I arrived I knew I had made the right choice. I got a very warm welcome at the dock on the Corniche side and they rang the hotel to send the hotel boat over, it was there in a few minutes.

When I arrived, Mr Fekri the Manager was there to greet me with a beaming smile.
He explained that the hotel was undergoing gradual renovations and what was open and closed in the hotel since my last visit. He is quite proud of the renovations but explained that due to the low number of guests, it is taking time.
I was not bothered by any noise from the renovations during my stay, you couldn't hear it from my room, inside the hotel or at the pool.

I was offered a cold hibiscus welcome drink while I filled out the paperwork, then Mr Fekri gave me a tour of the hotel to see the changes like the new pergola being built on the Sun terrace. The newly renovated rooms are lovely.

The big pool is closed for renovations as is the Italian restaurant. The pool being used is the Palms one. The outdoor terrace cafe is open.

I arrived by train quite early for my check in but that was not a problem, a room was ready very quickly and my bag was whisked away while I was on the tour.

Reception will break large notes for you if they have change and are very quick to respond to any requests with a warm smile and efficient service. I used the taxi service to the airport which was hassle free.

The hotel had very few guests (about 20 on the day I arrived) which is incredibly sad in a 400+ roomed hotel but for the guests it is wonderful as there is so much peace and tranquility.
I hope that tourism picks up soon, Aswan is a delightful town with none of the hassle of Luxor – I wished I had stayed in Aswan a week like I did the last time.

I had room # 217 which had fantastic views of the Nile and the garden, it was just a short walk to the pool area, reception & restaurant. It is not one of the newly renovated rooms but it has a new TV with good reception, I did not expect a renovated room as I paid such a low price, about a quarter of the price of the Movenpick.
It had a huge balcony, perfect for watching the Nile birdlife and the local fishermen in the early morning or just relaxing with a cuppa.

The room was large, clean and comfortable with two twin beds, my bathroom was in perfect working order, it even had a bathrobe and I had tea and coffee making facilities in the room which were much appreciated, just ring room service for milk. The fridge was one of the best I had this trip and kept eveything super cold.

There is free wifi in the hotel lobby which I found worked pretty well, I did have a problem logging on one morning, they just reset it which took a few minutes and it was fine after that, I was able to do my banking and send emails etc.
The air con is turned off in the lobby, which makes sense as there are so few guests.
It would be an absolute waste of money to use it there as the lobby is huge and most of the time there were only a couple of guests in it.
The bar is air conditioned and the air con in my room was so efficient, I had to turn it off at night, the curtains do a pretty good job of blocking out the heat.

Breakfast is served in the Mandalus bar, which has undergone renovations since I was there last with new furniture and window dressings.
There was no breakfast buffet due to the smaller number of guests but the staff will bring you what you want, eggs cooked to your liking, fried, spanish omelette, boiled, toast, croissants, rolls or Egyptian breakfast. Water, fresh juice, tea and coffee.
I had lovely fresh mango juice and fresh fruit salad with yoghurt every morning, it was delicious.

The view from the bar is wonderful day or night. I get lost in that view, it's a wonderful way to start the day while you have your breakfast or at night to have a drink.

I ate in town most of the time but I did have room service one day and it was a huge portion, very tasty, reasonably priced and piping hot. A Stella beer is 50 LE, so it is quite reasonable compared to other hotels

I had laundry done at the hotel which was very affordable – 15 LE for a shirt, trousers or skirt to be washed and pressed. They also do ironing if you need it, blouse 6 LE, skirt 9LE, just dial 5 on the hotel telephone and they will pick up immediately between 5am and 8pm.

The motor boat ride back and forth to the Corniche is fabulous imo, it just relaxes you so much and it's hard to beat the tranquility of being on the Nile especially at night.
If you get the chance, try to be on the Corniche side for the trip back to the hotel in the evening around 10.40 pm it's when the night crew come over to start their shift at 11pm, it was a great experience and gives you a chance to meet the friendly night manager and staff who will look after you so well.

I think the staff are wonderful, friendly and very customer focused which makes a great holiday, I have no doubt that it is because Mr Fekri sets such a good example.

I cannot wait to go back, this time I will stay longer in Aswan, I find a week there is a perfect way to destress. For the money, this place is the best deal in Aswan.

    Going back at last

    Val H on 10/10/2017 09:20

Sorry folks this is not really a review. But we have just confirmed that we are going back to the Pyramisa in February next year. We have contacted Mr Fekri the manager and made all arrangements with him.
Cannot wait until that first morning sitting on the balcony, looking out across the Nile to the desert in the distance. This has got to be one of the most beautiful spots on the planet; who cares if the decor is looking a little faded. The staff are fantastic, so kind and helpful. The views are spectacular. Looking forward to some trips out even if it is just a ride in a boat looking at the wonderful bird life.

    Charming Place

What a wonderful city it was, Aswan in the winter is the most famous place in Egypt,
The hotel location is fabulous, a beautiful quiet island, very warm, greeny island, you can hear the beauty of birds sounds, I enjoyed my stay so much, I wish I can come back to my lovely Aswan again, using the boats :)
