What People are saying

Clean, good value for money

Sigga_Jonson 03/09/2016 01:05

We stayed there for 6 nights in July 2016. The B&B is very near the old city-wall of Lucca and it took maybe 5-10 minutes to walk to the restaurants within the old city. Our host could benefit from having good instructions in English regarding the nearest grocery or convenience store, the nearest bus stop (she said her guests either walked or took a taxi, but we found the bus stop 2 minutes walk away and it took 3 minutes by bus to the train station) and just the basic necessities for tourists staying in a B&B and Italy (such as warning us about pre-planned strikes of the railway staff would have been very helpful).
The room was very clean and everything worked. Could have done with airconditioning but the electric fan was better than none at all.
I would stay there again knowing now where the local grocery store is, the bus stop and basically the basic things we won't have to take time to gather information about the next time we stay on this area.

No Air Conditioning

The reason this property gets such a low score is the fact that it was absolutely boiling in the room. They had provided a fan but it was no use!
There was no aircon (I wish I had known this before booking but didn't see it stated anywhere) and I think for the price we had paid it wasn't worth it, I wish we had booked elsewhere even if it meant paying a bit extra! We spent most of our time in Lucca town - which itself is lovely and this b&b is only a short walk outside the city walls. On the way out of the property, there was a drain on the ground which had a plastic grid on it, we left at 4am to go to the airport and I stood on this and it collapsed! (Lack of lighting didn't help.) I cut my leg open and ended up having a massive bruise where the wound was...very sore!
I think with a little bit of work this place could be a lot better.

Nice place in a nice town

This place is much better than it looks on the pictures. We liked it all.
It takes only a couple of minutes to walk to one of the gates to the old town.
We also liked that we could check out the breakfast, before we decided if we should take it or not. It turned out to be excellent and served in a separate building so that nobody would be disturbed.
The only problem we had was to find the B&B, since there are several streets called Via della Tagliate. We got a mail with a good description, but we could not read it as we were on the road. But if you set your GPS on VIA SILVIO PIERI instead, youll find the way!

One Night Stay

WLSTorontoon 19/05/2016 18:40

We stayed for 1 night the second week in May. We picked this hotel because we were driving, needed parking and didn't want to stay directly in the walled city but could walk to it with ease. It also had a fair price, but didn't include breakfast. This was an additional $6euro/pp. Our room was very large and had a mini fridge. It overlooked the back where the parking and breakfast room was. The room had an old world vintage feel, which we liked. My voltage converter didn't work for my curling iron but worked to charge my cell and camera. Overall, a good stay for one night.

Easter holidays in villa of the 1920's

The position is excellent for many reasons. We parked the car the day of arrival and never touched it again until it was packed for the return journey home. It's about a 15 minute walk through the St.Anne Gate into the heart of Lucca and its many treasures. Our room(Puccini) was well-heated and spotlessly clean,,the water in the shower plentiful and hot,the beds comfortable. Maybe there could have been more choice of pillows,we prefer them firmer, but no one lost any sleep over it. We tried to make reservations for the Cartoon Festival in November only to be told it was already completely booked. That says a lot for quality-price I think.
