Fantastic weekend !
Yvonne Bon 25/08/2017 13:44Stayed at the Malmaison over the weekend. When we arrived the staff at the reception were extremely friendly and helpful. Got taken to our room which was luxurious and spotlessly clean with comfortable beds. Had a couple of drinks in the bar, again the staff were friendly and told us about the current drink promotions which were a bargain! Breakfast was served until late in the morning and was super yummy. Will be back to this fantastic hotel.
Very stylish but no air conditioning
Lucy Jon 23/08/2017 19:57This is a handsome old building nicely converted. The reception staff were absolutely lovely, very friendly and keen to help and I cannot praise them highly enough. The rooms were very stylish with great soft furnishings and toiletries. Breakfast was good (fresh coffee, full-sized croissants not mini ones); we didn't need a cooked breakfast but were told it was only £2 more which if so is a bargain. The bar is also good with an interesting selection of whiskies for a nightcap.
However unfortunately there is no air conditioning in the rooms, only a 12" desk fan. The window of my room didn't open (ground floor sash window so I can understand why) which meant even the fan was useless, just moving stale air around noisily. I like a cool room to sleep in and this was impossible. Had I been staying more than one night I'd have asked to move to a different room but it was too late at night when I discovered the non-opening window to do that. A real shame as I would not stay again due to this.
A further, minor niggle: a colleague and I had booked the same rate at the same time through our work travel agent so with the same company name. He was given a room with a coffee machine, free chocolates and apples etc, presumably an upgrade over my standard double which did not have these things (his window opened too though still no A/C). I understand this may be necessary for operational reasons but feel it is bad form to upgrade only one member of a party if it can be at all avoided.
Best Nights Sleep!

Terrible customer service. Care only about money and have no human empathy
Leigh Fon 21/08/2017 13:05My little brother arranged an overnight here for myself and my husband as a gift for my 30th birthday. Unfortunately I was involved in a car accident the same weekend and was in hospital being operated on, on the day of the reservation. I actually called from my hospital bed to try to rearrange as I didn't want my brother to lose his money. But as I was in the hospital I didn't have my reservation number and so they couldn't help me. Hence I called back today. The central reservation department were lovely and very helpful and they assured me that if I contacted the hotel directly they'd be happy to help. They couldn't have been more wrong! They had no interest in helping whatsoever and were just quite happy that they had the money without having to provide the service. I fully understand that offers have conditions and offer zero refund. However I was in a car accident! I could not have foreseen that someone would put me in hospital or cause me to have surgery and there is no possible way I could change the situation. I didn't even ask for a refund all I hoped was that they would let me reschedule. I'm disgusted at the sheer lack of human empathy and absence of any form of customer service. So if you would like to be treated like you matter and not just like a source of money I strongly recommend you don't book this hotel!!! It would have cost them nothing to allow me to reschedule my stay. Furthermore I would have been spending more money while I was there. It would have made much more business sense to show some kindness in these unusual circumstances and just had some common human decency. For such a large hotel chain I find it highly disappointing.
Stylish, comfortable and very helpful service
rviola61on 20/08/2017 22:38A very nice renovated historic building. Rooms are comfy and stylish with some nice amenities. Staff was very helpful and cheerful. An excellent value.
Location is between downtown and the West End in a good neighborhood close to the art school. Shops and restaurants are a few blocks walk.
Hotel has a nice restaurant where breakfast is served.
