Great value place, if not a little dated.
cl03on 18/06/2017 12:50I really enjoyed my stay here. It is a simple place but clean and with spacious rooms. The added extras such as hairdryer in room, nice toiletries and free tea/coffee are not there. However, for the price and fairly central location you can't go wrong. A simple breakfast of toast, jam, eggs, biscuits, juice, tea/coffee is provided. The people at the desk weren't the most enthusiastic but were helpful.
You could easily miss the place on the street. See photos for reference. It is opposite the Pectopah hotel. My only suggestion for improvement would be to improve the shower head in the bathroom as it kept falling down. You can borrow a hairdryer if you ask at reception. Room could get a little chilly at times but there was heating, i assume it was controlled at the front desk upon request. Great value place, would stay here again!
Do not be put off by the street view - this hotel is great!
lowryeppon 03/06/2017 21:23Entry is by a rusty iron door, then a 1930's stairwell. Then it gets so much better!
Huge rooms, good (simple)breakfast, excellent location - almost all the sights are less than 10 minutes away. Staff so helpful - tried to print boarding cards etc
Value for money ***** Wifi a bit flakey at times, fine in breakfast room.
Rooms on 5th floor were quiet too
Take note - there is a hostel in the same building - be careful to book whichever one you need.
A good place to stay in Saint Petersburg

The location is great, just a short walking distance from Nevskiy Prospekt. The dorm size is fine, you have some space for changing your clothes and arrange your baggage. The place is clean and the kitchen, even though is quite small, is well equiped with fridge, microwave and all necessary kitchenware.
NEGATIVE:
Only two showers and two WC for 40 people. You will always have to queue and wait independent of the time, just be patient and relax. With so many users the cleanliness of course deteriorates very quickly. Keep im mind that almost all guests are young russians in a long stay, most of them looking for better job opportunities in the city. Some are quiet guys but you will also find a lot of noisy party dudes.
Top location, great value for money
RightMinderon 13/11/2015 07:47Fantastic location (behind Kazan Cathedral, some 300m from Nevsky prospect), lovely little hotel, great service. Don’t expect a conventional looking hotel. You think you are at the wrong address when you see a large metal door, but go through the large, old foyer, up a few steps, and through another metal door and you will find the unassuming reception desk. The receptionists spoke good enough English to meet all our needs and were very kind and helpful. Continental breakfast was well stocked and the coffee was superb.
After a cranky lift, another old foyer (sometimes smelt of tobacco from private apartments ) and another metal door, our 5th floor room was quite comfortable and very clean. Towels were changed daily. TV had forty odd channels but none in English (Same in all other hotels we stayed at).
I would stay there again and highly recommend it if you want comfort, good service, a quiet street and a top location for a very reasonable price.
Great location, good value for money
Aljen2013on 31/08/2015 07:57Excellent location and good value for money if you don't expect a 5-star experience. The hotel is located on a (relatively) quiet street less than 5 minutes walk to Nevsky. There's a cool vegetarian café next door.
The staff was helpful, the room was clean and a decent size.
Not much of a breakfast, and it's served in a tiny little dining room that's always crowded.
