What People are saying

City Break

Large spacious room with good facilities and comfy bed. Hotel was very clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. We requested a quiet room not to high up and our requests were met.
Hotel is just across the road from the main station excellent facilities.
Only down side of our stay was a flood in our shower cubical. However this was quickly rectified by housekeeping.

Well located

Chosen "Reichshof Hamburg" because of its location, good choice. Historical hotel with excellent interior design, our prepaid room was definitively small. Didn't purchase breakfast, but the Emil's bar was reasonable. Very good staff service.

Good location at city centre

We have stayed one night in this hotel.

Location is very convenient, in the middle of the city, very closed to hauptbahnhof (central station) for those travelling with train.

Lobby, nothing fancy about it. A little bit retro touch to it but that's it. Hotel has only 2 tiny space elevators to commute the guests up and down the building, which took ages for it to stop at the floor where you were at.

Room is business like, clean and tidy. Unfortunately, we were given to a very much smaller size room (we hv seen bigger room at the hotel's website, therefore had a certain expectation). With a not So spectacular view (looked at the parking garage). Tiny bathroom too. We didn't bother to change/ask for another room since it was only for a night stay but indeed was a pity.

Parking is at the back of the hotel (€15)

Didnt hv breakfast at the hotel premisse instead we walked to the small restaurant/bakery/souvenir shop across the street.

Inadequate A/C, great location

We prepaid for a 1-night stay since we were coming back from a cruise and would arrive in Hamburg too late to catch a flight back to the U.S. The location is great, literally across the street from the main train station. There were lots of restaurants nearby and we also found a small convenience store around the corner for soda and bottled water. However, the hotel is in an old building and the air conditioning does not work effectively. We set the controls to the lowest possible setting and the room was still hot after several hours. We complained and was told that there is (weak) cold air coming out of the vents and that's the best they can do. I asked about switching rooms but was denied. The hotel staff suggested opening a window and eventually gave us a small portable fan (at my request) to help matters. It was really a ceramic heater with a single fan setting, so didn't help much, but was better than nothing. We kept most of the lights off to avoid heating the room and could barely sleep due to the heat. (I think the room actually felt hotter than outdoors,) I complained again upon checking out, but the receptionist just offered an apology and nothing else. We will never come back to this hotel again due to the discomfort we experienced.

On the other hand, if you don't mind the sauna-like room condition, the location is fantastic. We stayed on the 5th floor, so not sure if that impacted the air condition. Note that it is not unusual to encounter hotels in Europe with weak/no air conditioning, but we've been spoiled by central A/C in our own house.

Beware of room 633 if taller than 5ft!

My husband hit his head very hard two nights in a row due to the angled ceilings! Not same spot he remembered but hit walking in opposite direction the next night!!! The room was the smallest hotel room we have ever stayed in. Although once we had a similar room in NYC as far as floor space (I. e. Room with only 1 foot of space on either side of bed and foot of bed). However, the NYC room was square with straight perpendicular walls. Since wall angled in towards ceiling a taller person could easily hit potion of wall. Since I am 5' 1" I did not have problem. However, my husband being 5' 10" he had to be very careful to not hit his head. Since wall in shower angled, he also had difficulty fitting in. Three friends of ours were also staying there and they were given a very large room. Thus, it seems as larger rooms are available - avoid room 633. We also had an issue with our air conditioning. Our friends initially did also; however, they recognized the issue quickly and were able to change rooms & experience acceptable air. I will say that lobby and dining area for breakfast are very beautiful and the breakfast offered an abundance of choices!!! The breakfast was Hilton quality! Also, I must mention that my husband was not pleased with fitness center (he had been spoiled by the Hilton Dresden! And quite pleased with Hilton Berlin, we are currently at Hilton Cologne which is also rather nice - definitely better than Curio in Hamburg!).
