What People are saying

Acadia and Bar Harbor for a Reasonable Price

Cweb123on 21/06/2017 04:23

My wife found Hinckleys for us. We rented a two bedroom cabin for our family of five which has worked out perfectly.

The cabin is newly renovated. We got two bedrooms plus a pullout. Theres a full sized range/over and fridge.

It looks like the cabins range from single room efficiencies to one and two bedrooms.

It's a family business with the owners living on site. But they're old school. You can't book online, you have to a call them, and I'm guessing credit cards may be an issue as we wrote a check for the rental.

But the location is great, and the pricing is more than fair. Right on Route 3 about 2 miles from the main Acadia entrance and 3 from Bar Harbor proper.

I could see coming back with extended family again. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Cozy Cabins

We enjoyed our stay at Hinckley's Cabins in June 2017. The owners were very accommodating. Recommend to anyone looking for a rustic, quiet retreat away from town. The only suggestion I would make would be to have better window shades in the cabins, as the sun rises very early in the summer.

Perfect combination or rustic and modern ammenities

Affordable and perfect. Booked 3 nights online and owners upgraded me to a nicer cabin (#19). Fabulous, well cared for and clean. I asked to stay a 4th night and they accommodated me at the original rate. Fireplace, crickets, birds; so peaceful. Like camping but with modern amenities - hot/cold water, electricity, kitchen, etc. I would definitely return, especially in three years when the new road is scheduled to be finished!

A Piece of quiet--"the way life should be"

My 8th year return in 10 years. I love "my" little cabin like a 'home away from home' with owners who are like family--ie. "the friends we call family!" After going onto retirement's fixed income, I have been in little cabin 8A vs 8. Cabin 8a is smaller, but perfect for 1 person, yet set up for 2 is also acceptable. The cabin is clean, quaint, and just plain "vintage cute"! Electric heat brings the cabin to cozy within minutes. (Even on chilly days, I don't leave the heat on because it heats up quickly; saves money to turn off while gone.) The housekeepers are handpicked by the owners, always friendly, professional, and efficient. The owners will do anything for a guest if one just asks! Reviews make me wonder if some people stayed in the same establishment that I did--no need for ANY complaints: if one has a concern, speak with the owners! They are more than willing to go an "extra" mile and resolve any issues. The cottages run from something out of "House Beautiful" with gorgeous decor, some with kitchens and/or fireplaces to just plain "cute vintage" which is my favorite. A cabin can be chosen for any number of people in any price range, and the "piece of quiet" in a small part of Maine woods, in the fall, is unsurpassed. (I have no idea what summer activity is like as only stay in the fall and always very quiet and peaceful during that season.) There may not be a mint on your pillow, but you are nearby to any nightlife or day activity you have interest in from outdoor Maine activities, to museums, a variety of eateries and the local quaint village/town of Bar Harbor, ME, with many unique little shops. I would feel "empty" without my annual fall visit to this, that I call "my" little cabin in the woods!

the cottages was clean and comfortable. the price was very reasonable considering this is Bar harbor area. took me less than 10min to go grocery and downtown. The best thing is the location is in the middle of lobster steam place and national park entrance. Also bus stop is right on the street where lodge is. Had a wonderful time here.
