Excellent staff

I popped in to Melrose Beach Apartments needing some help. The staff were incredibly professional and more than accommodating. Shaquila at the front desk was particularly helpful. Based on staff interaction I think guests would be very well looked after staying here.

What a great staff from the reception desk throughout the entire place!

Hot showers and cold AC ;)

Great location of beaches, restaurants, and supermarkets.

On the main highway for ease of bus/taxi transportation as well.

Simple affordable hotel, not a 5 star but comfortable. Friendly staff and really near everything. Close to the beach and right on the main road. Was not impress with the TV or AC but the WIFI was good.

Avoid like the plague!

My partner and I stayed here for 14 nights from 12/02/2017. I have made frequent trips to Barbados and know this area very well. We were well aware the apartments are next to a main road and expected some noise, however on our first night we discovered that one of the two slatted glass windows in the bedroom would not close fully. This meant that the traffic and other outside noise was simply intolerable. We reported this to staff the next morning and the receptionist and maintenance guy both came to the room to see the problem. Both agreed there was a problem, we were informed it would be fixed that day or next. I asked to be moved to another room and was informed the apartments were fully booked. The window was never repaired during our stay, we resorted to trying to stuff a bath towel in-between the slats to try and muffle the noise. I asked the manager to reduce our bill as we were in a room clearly unfit for purpose and was brusquely informed that no deduction would be given. When I asked whether he felt it was fair that we should be paying full price for a room we could not get a sleep in he simply reiterated in a rude and intractable manner that no discount would be given. Informing him I would place a fair and accurate view on here did not interest him in the slightest, clearly a man who does not care how his business is portrayed.
Oh and on asking for our bill we were presented with a bill HIGHER than that quoted upon booking. Luckily my girlfriend had kept the booking email stating the rate and all taxes and upon showing this the bill was amended to what it should have been in the first place.
Plus points were the friendly staff and maintenance guy (who never stopped working) and that the two rooms were a decent size. Great location close to beach and walking distance to the Gap.
Towels are only changed every 3 days. Room could have been cleaner.

In summary, we would not use this establishment again. This is as much to do with the managers attitude as the problem with the window.

Can I honestly recommend Melrose Beach Apartment? Yes.

The apartment is within reasonable distance from the Airport (20 minutes drive approximately).

It is perfectly situated in the Worthings Christchurch area, with important amenities within walking distance (24 hr restaurants, numerous supermarkets, fast food chain outlets and financial institutions).

The area feels safe and in my opinion is extremely visitor friendly.

In terms of the accommodation itself, rooms are self contained, generally well equipped and though not beaming with elegance, are comfortable and well kept.

The only complaint surrounds the WiFi signal strength.
