Excellent location
Lars Don 15/08/2017 16:17For starters this hotel has the best location imaginable, it's only 1 minute away from the nearest subway/train station that connects you to everything in the centre of Berlin. On top, the hotel is in a very quiet neighbourhood making it very good to sleep.
We had very helpful and friendly staff and were even able to enter our room 3 hours early. The hotel lobby is very good looking, but it's a bit in contrast with the rooms, which are kind of aged, but they're good enough for the price.
In our room, we had one issue with the sink, which was leaking from the bottom. But we told the staff before we left the hotel for a walk in the city and by the time we came back it was fixed.
The breakfast was included in our booking and it was great. You had lots of choices: bread, cornflakes, fresh fruit, cheese, ... But what I liked the most is they have fresh honey (you literally take it from a honeycomb).
I would really recommend this hotel. If we go back to Berlin (what we certainly will) we'll definitely go back to this one!
Nice Hotel, Good Location, Good Staff
HubertRexon 13/08/2017 00:36Recently stayed in this hotel for 3 nights as part of a recent trip to Berlin. The hotel is conveniently located within 100 yards of a U Bahn station which itself was only 5 stops on the Underground (U2) from Ernst-Reuter Platz and the bus connection to Berlin Tegel airport. The hotel is also within walking distance of Potsdamer Platz (15 minutes), Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag (30 minutes) and other attractions including "Checkpoint Charlie" (20 Minutes) and Topography of Terror (15 minutes).
The hotel itself has a very pleasant and modern foyer and reception where I was able to check in very quickly. The staff were very polite, helpful and assisted me whenever I needed help.
The room itself was clean with a reasonably sized shower room, desk and very comfortable bed. There was plenty of storage space. There was however no air conditioning in the room, which at times meant that it was quite warm although the windows did allow in some fresh air there was no breeze as this looked out onto a courtyard.
The free WiFi in the hotel does leave much to be desired, and could be improved. During my stay I found myself needing to do some work and this proved to be time consuming with the often slow connection.
Overall I would recommend this hotel because of the location close to the city centre but in a quiet and pleasant area, the friendly and polite staff and the good room and rates.
Typical Berlin budget hotel with nice staff.
Ojanpohjaon 11/08/2017 10:04The location of the hotel is great, it's 50 meters from one of the more busy U-Bahn stations and only couple of stops from the city centre. The Rooms have windows to a closed courtyard so you can hear the trains.
I arrived around 6 hours before check in time, but the staff went their way to get me a room as fast as possible, they also got me a bigger room, than I had reserved so no complaints about the service.
The breakfast buffet had a good selection, but I felt the 16 euro price was a bit much for it.
Wonderful week-end in Berlin,
Mali20152016on 10/08/2017 17:08A group of us went on a trip to Berlin for touring and the stay at the Mercure was great. Upon arrival, the staff were friendly and helpful and had our room and information ready within seconds of arrival. The lobby was clean bright and attractively decorated.
Our room was on the top floor (7th) and we had a view of the area between the next building (which was 1/2 block away) and a park. The room was quiet and clean. Good air control. Windows could be opened for fresh air.
The staff were helpful in letting us borrow an i-phone charger from their desk. I couldn't get my i-phone to charge in the port in the room (may be user issue? :-) ).
There was a lounge/bar down off of the lobby which was small but friendly and relaxing for a 'night-cap' and snack. No noise was heard beyond that room.
The bed and pillows were comfortable. Very quiet and pleasant sleep.
Breakfast was very good except for scrambled eggs which reminded me of powdered eggs for camping), Good variety of meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, berries, yogurts, musli, hard, soft boiled eggs (and the aforementioned powder taking eggs), sausages, bacon, juices and teas/coffee.
The wait-staff lady was very friendly and offered a to-go cup for my tea as we had an agenda and had to get a move on.
Check-out was a breeze. We had a great stay. Due to the location we got around easily. Would recommend this hotel and would return.
Our stay in Berlin
JulianSavon 05/08/2017 23:04The staff were most helpful over a number of issues They kindly printed out our Isango vouchers that we were rather late dealing with. They were able to sell us a travel card when the instructions on the platform machine proved inpenetrable and the man on the desk had enough first-aid knowledge to assure me that the insect bite on my ear was nothing too serious- certainly not to cause problems on the return flight. There were nice, clean, comfortable bedrooms. The hotel provided excellent breakfasts. The scrambled egg was lovely. I enjoyed trying the porridgey style muesli (new to both of us)and we were staying for enough days to try most things on offer
