Outstanding Stay (...with a couple of bumps)
Samuel Ton 26/07/2017 22:05I stayed at the MGM Grand Detroit during my first business trip to the city. Although my stay was pretty wonderful, there were a couple of opportunities that I believe could be improved upon!
Like I said, the positive benefits definitely outweighed the opportunities at MGM Grand Detroit!
POSITIVES: My room was on a high floor with a fantastic view. The bed was comfortable and the room itself was pretty clean! Additionally, the amenities were amazing and I was grateful for them. The service from the staff was also exemplary - everyone that I spoke to was pleasant and considerate. However, my favorite part of my stay was the Spa/Fitness Center at MGM Grand Detroit! It was absolutely superb. The Spa and Fitness Center offered some of the best amenities in any hotel that I’ve ever been to. I wish I had more time to actually have enjoyed everything offered by MGM Grand Detroit!
OPPORTUNITIES: Although the rooms were clean, there were some noticeable signs of aging and dings in the walls and furniture. I believe a little “rejuvenation” could definitely elevate an already great hotel experience offered by MGM Grand Detroit! Also, the walls are pretty thin. One night that I was there (Wednesday night), I could hear the people’s conversations in the room next to mine until 2:00 AM. I didn’t particularly care for this and I wish that the staff at MGM Grand Detroit would enforce quiet hours better. Other than these things, I had a terrific stay and would definitely return!

Chipolon 26/07/2017 11:32The room and the hospitality were top-notch. The problem for me was that the smoking cloud from the open casino permeated the entire ground floor. This made dining at the sports bar and Wolfgang Pucks less than optimal. I even got a whiff of cigarette smoke up in my room, though that may have been from a cheater. I also had wi-fi problems with three different devices and IT support had to hard-code me into service.
I really wanted to love this hotel
Questiongirlon 18/07/2017 01:27As frequent visitors of MGM-owned hotels in Las Vegas, we were excited to take a quick weekend trip to MGM Grand Detroit to catch a Saturday evening ballgame. We really wanted to love this hotel.
The pros:
-Hotel has everything within it that you could want or need: a range of restaurants, spa, a large vegas-style casino, and bars
- Location is great - walking distance to many sights, including Comerica Park
- Decorated in modern style with great views if you're on a higher floor and ask for a view of the ball park
-Spacious rooms and washrooms
Cons:
- You pretty much need to go through the casino to get to a cafe, most restaurants, etc. This required someone checking ID and bags each time.
- No real lobby. The small hotel lobby is behind security.
- Cost for using the business centre computers
- Service: As a gold MLife member living 4 hours from Detroit, I was hoping for an apology and some gesture of goodwill when I mentioned upon check out that we had no functioning television during our stay. Not even an apology was offered. Obviously this doesn't make it a deal-breaker, but definitely a disappointment given the cost of rooms here and my "gold" status with MLife.
Great place to stay in Detroit!
Michael Con 17/07/2017 22:13This was a very nice hotel. The room was very nice with comfortable beds and the bathroom was very nice. Full casino was good and some great food options. Good location in the heart of town. I will be back again.

zazarbon 15/07/2017 19:43I had 2 free nights at the MGM Detroit Hotel and Casino, very nice room and convertible bed, spacious room and wonderful bathroom! I also enjoyed room service! MGM Detroit is local for me and I plan on visiting again soon.
