Long review but detailed of recent stay
Stayed here for a few days with my partner. Last minute booking and it is what was available. I must say for the price you get exactly what you should expect from a 2-star hotel.
To start it is at least an hour and half from Faro airport. My partner and I took the train from Faro station which is a 10 minute drive costing max €15 or 20minute bus journey costing €2.50 from the airport.
The journey time by train is 1 hour 30 mins. Not too bad and approx the same time by shuttle bus transfer. The train tickets were €4.50 each but this was because we got a discount because they have a Youth 16-25 discount deal (you will need to show I.D).
From Faro train station it is a 30 minute walk (thanks to google maps) or 10 minute taxi ride.
The hotel staff are very friendly and welcoming with a positive attitude.
However I must say do not bother to book breakfast because it does truly taste horrid and cheap. You're better off just booking the room and going into town or one of the local restaurants for brekky. It's a continental buffet style breakfast with bread that feels like it has been out all day and sweating mini sausages. However the fruit was lovely. The restaurant staff did not seem friendly and only rushed around to restock food, no eye contact or good morning.
The hotel itself is near housing flats so the view when you look out of your balcony can be people's washing hanging outside.
Everything in the room worked ok and air con was fine. Our bath was blocked so water took a little while to drain. Bed sheets only get changed after 6 days but towels every day. Our bathroom had no window nor fan so meant the balcony door was often open to let some air in.
After the maid had come in to clean there was a strong industrial smell of bleach and disinfect. It did not smell fresh and rosy. But I guess the job was done. We had a forever leaking shower gel dispenser which would run down the tiles into the bath.
Location wise there was not much to do in the local area, but some activities run a bus near hotel which you can get on or will pick you up. Oftentimes, we got on the train to places, which is a wonderful and cheap way to see the algarve as it was only a few euros to go to other destinations.
Overall we got what we paid for the price, in terms of a room with working facilities and lovely front of house staff.
However the food is horrible and strong bleach smells in room and unfriendly restaurant staff
Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights on a working trip. Everything in this hotel is old and outdated, from the elevator to the bathrooms, the single beds are very narrow (90 cm wide). The breakfast room and indoor swimming pool are in the basement. For tourists the location is awful, 3 miles away from nearest beach and 2 miles away from the city center.
On the first morning i was surprised with the information that breakfast (supposedly starting at 8AM) was delayed due to the fact that the night shift receptionist took the restaurant keys by mistake and went home for a good day sleep. So having a meeting at 9AM i left the hotel without having breakfast, no one apologized for the inconvenience and no discount was made to the final bill. On the second day i manage to get breakfast, poor bread, the croissants were lousy, every product seemed to be the cheapest that can be bought in the nearest supermarket.
Came as a last minute deal. Hadn't read the reviews prior, wish I had. Can't fault the cleanliness of the hotel but it is far too far away from the beach, bars and restaurants for me. Went to the outside pool (don't bother) it wasn't very clean and there is no sun due to the massive apartment building in front. Breakfast is good to be fair, wide variety. Room comfortable but not able to use aircon for some reason. Bed a little uncomfortable but slept on worse. Overall an average place.
The hotel is clean, towels changed daily the rooms are tidied bins emptied and a general clean through.
Breakfast was good, plenty of choice, the only let down was no British tea😳😳!!! A few couples had remarked on this so we had to buy some.
The pool is in a separate building but it's lovely, it was quiet nice time to relax in the sun. Eric's cafe was a godsend for our cups of tea, beer and snacks, he even put my mates phone on charge there. He has internet , a lot of the locals go there aswel. Really nice and friendly chap.
We walked a few times in Praia da rocha and to portimao, it takes about 40 mins. Taxi's were about 4/5 euros although we did end up paying €9.30 one time, why we don't no!!
There are 3 shuttle buses going to and from both of these places the last one back is about 1800.
The staff were lovely very helpful apart from one girl with glasses, miss misery chops!!!! Lol
We got a taxi over to carvoeiro one day which is an amazing place, the beach is lovely. We also got a water taxi over to ferrugudo, another lovely place.
The boat trips around the coves and caves is a must, beautiful scenery.
We will be going again, a week just wasn't enough!!
Enjoy
