What People are saying
A quiet and warm place which feels like home
basav123on 20/07/2016 08:52We stayed at Mitaroy for three nights and four days and it was a wonderful experience. It was monsoon and we were doing the non-beach Goa trip. Mitaroy has the essence of a Portuguese home and makes you feel at home instantly. Mr Jack the caretaker was very kind and he picked us up from station and fed us every day with some yummy breakfast. Since we had informed earlier that it is our wedding anniversary they had made some special arrangements which was very kind. We enjoyed the rain from the balcony of our room at night.. It is located in the heart of Fontanas which is great if you like heritage districts. We would love to go again for sure.
Artistic Space, Warm People and a very memorable Stay !!
veenamenon 25/04/2015 13:38We visited Goa in October 2014 to revisit the two beautiful years of our MBA days.In an impulsive decision to drive all the way from Chennai, we underestimated the peak Durga Pooja traffic and the problems it would give us in finding a place to rest !
We were badly looking for a place to put ourselves and our poor car to rest after a 15 hour long drive from Chitradurga (Karnataka). We couldnt find a single accomodation at Palolem due to shack renovation.Madgaon was completely full and so were all the major hotels in Panjim.I frantically dialled every contact I could find while my husband drove along stopped by every tiny hotel he spotted ready to settle for anything coz a good sleep was all we needed.I stumbled upon Mr Nayak's number and made a call expecting the same response. "Sorry We're full".
I was greeted by Mr Nayak who enthusiastically declared that they can accomodate us and promptly gave us the directions to Mitaroy ending the phone call saying his Manfriday would be waiting for us with 2 chilled beers! My husband was floored right there and we turned into Mitaroy patrons that instant! Like promised, Shekhar the man friday waited for us with two glasses of refreshing rose water (we had the beer later ofcourse :) ).That was one heavenly treat after all that we went through :)
What amazed us was to find that the property was right in Fountainhas - the place which caught my fancy all through my time in Goa thinking wat would a life of a local be like! Mitaroy is tastefully done and wonderfully maintained adding to the serenity of the Fountainhas stretch!Right from their furniture to their library, everything in the house had the old world charm!
The family is cultured and happy to host you.So is the staff - Jack and Shekhar! The breakfast space they have is really wonderful and made us feel really special even though breakfast was bought from outside! An area of improvement would be to serve homecooked goan food. Not that we have any complaints but it would add up to the entire experience!!
We spent 3 amazing days lazing around in Panjim and returned with another bunch of wonderful memories and few bottles of rose squash!! We now recieve our guests just the way we were recieved at Mitaroy : ) Like Mr Nayak puts it, God is in the details, in the small things!
Thank You Mr Nayak and Ms Laura! And Thankyou Jack and Shekhar.See you next time around!
“Awesome Experience :)"

New Years@ Goa!!
vanjyotsnaon 07/01/2014 20:20We stayed at Mitaroy Heritage Hotel in Panjim for 5 nights starting Dec 28th & thru the new years in Goa & it was good fun !!
we were 2 couples with 2 kids (age 4 and 7) & the hotel was just perfect for a setup like this. We got our our entire wing, which included 2 portions ( a 1bedroom & sitting area) on each floor with stairs from the drawing room and a lovely kitchen.
we had a helper to help us with milk/tea anytime we wanted in the kitchen.
the good thing about the hotel was the total privacy we got & kids (boys!!) had more then enof room to play independently....the only 2 things which cud be better were - 1) the cleaning of the room was not like a hotel & we missed that !! the beds were to be made by us & the towels were not changed everyday !
secondly, the guys there really made an effort for our breakfast & asked us everyday what we wanted to eat the next day, but since they were getting the food from outside, the choices were limited...wud have loved a better breakfast buffet...
Rest all good...had a great time there !! thanks to the very helping staff !!
On the destination, Goa @ new years is something we have seen a lot of times & its always awesome fun, but one suggestion- Don’t ever go to BAGA OR any of the normal North goa beaches at this time..they r dirty!!
Visit beaches like Morjim/ Arambol & Benaulim in South goa & u will have great fun !!!
thanks guys!! happy travelling !!
