In 2015 I stayed with my girlfriend at knights inn, we checked in at 7:30pm being hungry
We went down to burgerking across the other side of the highway, we went to unpack all our things, I went to open the door but the key would not work. I went to the front desk
The lady gave us another key, this key would not open. Luckilly there was a another room Available that we could stay in, but that room was a 2queen we just wanted a 1queen. Around 9:00pm I was going to the shower Realizing the yellow marks on the shower curtains was pee gross!! Not wanting to sleep ondusgting sheets we went out to Walmart we got back too the holtel aroud 11:30pm changed the sheets set the alarm clock for 7:30am we checked out packup and ate Brefakst at Crackle barrel! That's my first and last time at this crapy motel.

Closed and up for sale.
This place is a dump over 5 years ago and from the looks of it, not a penny was reinvested in the property. So if this place is open and you're here for Fermi, pass! They are decent hotels across the highway for reasonable prices next to Burger King.

Motel closed for reno's.. and they didn't let me know

I had a reservation at the Knights Inn Monroe, MI for May 14, 2016. I booked it on the Knights Inn website, about a month prior. The booking was fine, I received a confirmation number, and the confirmation email. I didn't give it a second thought.

Flashforward a month later, I arrive at the property shortly after the listed checkin time. The place was Closed. Shut down. Deserted. I sat in the parking lot for a few minutes...checking my emails and voicemails to see if I might have missed a message. Knights Inn did NOT contact me to advise the motel would be closed. I logged into their website, and "Reviewed Reservation", when I typed my reservation number in, it came up as a valid reservation. I was beyond frustrated. I cancelled the booking, and drove to another hotel and found a room for the night. Luckily it wasn't a prime tourist season, finding a place to sleep was easy. But the bad experience could have been avoided with a 2 minute phone call from Knights Inn before I showed up.

I do not live in Michigan, and have not been back that way since May 2016. It's August 2016 as I type this review, I don't know if the motel has re-opened.. or *IF* it will reopen.. But if it does, I strongly recommend everyone call the motel front desk before you arrive to make sure they are open. Because they most certainly won't alert you if they close!

Good room with reasonable price.

Disgusting, Nasty, Run Down - Gross place - Knights Inn Monroe Michigan

Linda Won 09/10/2015 05:00

A friend and I were traveling to Michigan for a dog show. We rented our hotel room on line. Laurie didn’t get a conformation number so she called the hotel and was told that there was no record of the room rental. Little did we know that was only just the beginning of what would be a horrible 7 hours in that hotel!
We arrived at about 1:00 or 1:30 a.m. Laurie went and checked in. We were told to drive around back. What we found was a row of rooms boarded up on the left side and a row of rooms with only a few working outside lights and the rest were totally in the dark. We had a hard time finding the room number due to the darkness, There was a large trash can chained to the outside pillar in front of our door. Upon entering the room the smell of stale cigarettes and something else met us. But the condition of the room was deplorable! Disgusting was a word I used more then I have ever used in my life to describe it. The carpet was dirty looking and very worn. the color of the room was a deep dark red and the walls were marred with many scratches and holes in it. There was trash under one of the “end tables” in the room which consisted of deodorant, tissues, paper, dust, something indescribable food wise! Since we had dogs with us - I picked everything I could up off the floor so they wouldn’t eat it and placed a end table over the spot and put a kennel next to it - covering the carpet as best I could. There were NO hangers in the room. There was NO towel bar in the bathroom. There was no chain on the safety chain / lock on the door. The lights were dim. the whole place was dirty. I washed the counter and wall for the light switch and the not so white wash cloth was orangish. I tried to improve the rooms smell by spraying a air freshener that I brought from home. There was trash behind the table sitting between the two beds, there was trash between the bed and the wall of one of the beds. I didn’t move the other one. There was a chair in the room that was so stained and awful - I couldn’t imagine sitting anything on it!
We weren’t in there even a few minutes when I called down to the front desk and asked for a change of rooms saying this one was disgusting. The night person apologized several times and said there was no other rooms available. She said the Manager would be in at 8 a.m. Laurie and I then sat on the edge of the bed and we started looking for a store where we could buy bed sheets so that we could have clean bed sheets to sleep on if we were going to stay at this place. Neither one of us wanted to lay down on the dirty bed / bedding. We took our dogs out to walk in the dark a couple times - thankfully we had flashlights. About 4 a.m. I was sitting on the bed and looked at my dogs legs. All of a sudden I saw dozens of fleas running up her legs and started to see them on her body too!! Having had a experience a couple of years ago at another hotel in a different state - I had put Effitix on my dog 9/15. I always carry a flea comb in my show bag and took it out and started combing her and catching fleas. Laurie looked at her dogs and started seeing fleas too. She had parastar with her and put it on her dogs. We combed and killed the fleas and started looking for hotels in the area and I started calling them. Because of the dog shows and another event - the hotels were pretty much booked up. I am not sure if we got the fleas from the room or outside in the over long grass in the dark.
At about 7:00 a.m. we took the dogs outside to the van and put them in. We then decided we needed to go to the store and get flea spray so I would be able to spray the van and all the bedding inside of it - just in case there were any more live fleas on them that could get off inside my van. We loaded up all but one dog - which was still in the room. When Laurie went to get her dog out of the room, the room key didn’t work in the door. My door key wouldn’t work in the room either! We pulled and pushed and tried to wiggle the handle. All our stuff, my purse, phone iPad and everything was in the room along with the dog. I told Laurie to keep trying and to talk to her dog. I went up to the front desk and explained how nasty the room was once again to the gal there and told her our dogs had gotten fleas! - She apologized again and said that the building that was boarded up across the lot from us, had a fire in it - and it and the building we were in were going to be demolished. (!!) She apologized for there not being lights at that end of the building stating there was something wrong with the electricity. She repeated that the Manager, Michelle would be in at 8:00 a.m. and handed me two more keys for our room. I walked back - and we tried the room keys she just made. They Did Not work!! I went Back to the front office and was even more angry. Two men were standing in the front office getting coffee. The gal was upset and trying to call someone to help after I told her we had a dog that was stuck in the room and he was not in a kennel. Then all of a sudden she asked one of the men, the taller one - if he could go to our room and help us get into the room since the dog was in there. Why she didn’t ask him in the first place is beyond me. I believe he was a maintenance man. The two of us walked back to the room where Laurie was still trying to get in. He stayed ahead of me as I was angry and muttering about the disgusting place. He took the 4 keys as if Laurie and I weren’t competent enough to use them correctly. He didn’t have any better “luck”. Laurie said “well you must have a master key, why don’t you just do that?” or something to that effect. And he did. Opened the door and said he would have to reprogram the lock on that door, sometimes that happened. Laurie and I decided to reload the van with all of our stuff and just get out of that hotel altogether. Once loaded - I drove up to the front office and parked.
Upon going into the front office Again - around the corner came a lady I hadn’t seen before. I said “Would you be Manager Michelle??” she said yes. I told her that I was completely disgusted that they would put us in a sh** room. She then exclaimed that I “swore at her” and I took this to a whole new level. She proceeded to raise her voice and yell at me and said I didn’t need to cuss and went on and on. I then pulled out my iPhone and showed her the photos I took of the room. She all of a sudden changed her attitude and decided she would try to help us find somewhere else to stay. She agreed that my choice of words was warranted and that I thought the cleaning staff should be fired. She agreed with that too. I am not sure if it was the night girl or Michelle who offered it - but one of them offered to *bomb our room* to rid it of the fleas - but we would have to be out of the room for 6 to 8 hours! Good Grief! Nasty!!
While out doing dog laundry and going to the store for flea spray for my van and the dog bedding inside, we got a call from Michelle offering us a room at the Knights Inn that she had *two people cleaning it right now* - and we could go back to inspect it ourselves. We did return - but we returned to get our money back. We did Not stay in that hotel.
This hotel is a dangerous place and should Not be rented out to people. there are bare wires all over the place - where the outside lights don’t work. The room we were in was beyond disgusting and NO ONE should have been allowed in the room. My belief is that the hotel was dismantling that room for future demolition - but the hotel saw a “easy buck” way to make some more money that weekend. They were even going to charge $25 extra for dogs that stayed there that weekend!
