Quirky Hotel in stunning location.
sweetie90on 19/09/2016 21:27Stayed here for a wedding in August and spent a lively few days exploring the beautiful area around Nijmegan.
Friendly and helpful staff in this small hotel, felt really at home. Our room was up a few flights of stairs, good for getting the blood circulating but not so good if you have any mobility issues. The room was quirky, the bed was comfy and WiFi free. Breakfast was plentiful and varied with smoked salmon, eggs, breads, croissants just some of the delicious food on offer. Would definitely stay again.
Art deco mansion in the woods
Harm-Jan Won 21/08/2016 19:34Not far from Nijmegen lies this small hunting castle in the woods. Peace and quiet, and ideal for a nice walk.
The castle itself is beautiful, both on the outside and inside. Be sure to walk around the inside to see all the beautiful details.
We upgraded our room to a suite, so that we would be in the castle itself. There are not many rooms in the castle, most of it seems intended for meetings, weddings, receptions and restaurant.
The food is quite good, but the restaurant itself is not cosy, it is a bit like a big hal. Ideal for bigger parties, less so for intimate dinners.
The staff was very nice, but for this establishment I expected a little bit more organisation. Communication between staff about your stay was not optimal, and there seems to be no instruction what to do with people who arrive early. You should really offer to keep their luggage (and have separate storage for it), check you in already, point you to the restaurant/bar or what you could do to spend the time.
The rooms are nicely renovated, but not enough power outlets. Especially at the desk you expect one or two for your laptop, charger etc.
Certainly enjoyable, and recommended for your wedding for sure!
Beautiful location in the woods
Rob Hon 16/04/2016 16:28We had an offsite with our management team here, in 'De Stijgbeugel'. Conference room well prepared - lunch was nice.
The rooms were in two different buildings: Jachtslot and the Residence. In the Residence there was no breakfast - you had to go to the Jachtslot itself.
I went for a walk at dawn [6am] in the woods and this is simply great. Saw a roebuck jumping away 10m aread of me!
A night in the woods
Christof Von 07/09/2015 21:47Located in a very beautiful area, the Jachtslot Mookerheide is a guarantee for a nice time.
Especially when the weather is nice, the surrounding moor- and woodlands are stunning.
The reception, restaurant, breakfast area and some of the rooms are in the castle.
The friendly receptionist gave us two rooms in the Residentie de Jachthoorn which is about 300 meters further into the woods. The first glance of the building is a bit of a letdown as its style has nothing to do with the castle. The rooms inside however are very tasteful. The eclectic decoration matches with the interior of the main castle.
We had a room on the 2nd floor. It was not very huge and if it’s very warm, it might be not the nicest place in the building but we had everything we required for one night in a hotel.
In the end, it’s a luxurious way of sleeping with the sound of the forest as background.
And if you want a bigger room: our friends did get a suite, which is much more spacious.
Breakfast offers plenty of choice but also here, it’s the atmosphere of the building which gives it an extra value.
We decided also to stay on the property in the evening and to have diner in Brasserie Du Bois. It has nothing to do with a typical (empty) hotel restaurant so it’s recommendable. We chose for the 4=2 summer action which was a 10 course meal for 4 people where you had to pay only for 2. Given the price & number of courses, our expectation of the food was not high (there are no miracles) but they were pretty creative to make a good & well presented meal. Nevertheless, a few courses less in order to give something a bit more special could not harm. With the excellent wine & great service it was nevertheless a pleasant experience.
Relaxed stay in a hunting castle in a green environment.
Philip Pon 22/06/2015 20:01Nice rooms; splendid environment. Excellent walking and biking activities nearby. Very good food with friendly service. Nice wine list too.
Only a pity that many room are in a separate building remote from the central building.
