Don’t expect friendly staff at this hotel!
Minneke Son 24/01/2017 09:03We were very much looking forward to our stay at this hotel as we had a positive reply to our request of a matrimonial bed and a room on the first floor, since this hotel has no lift and I have difficulty walking the stairs.
Little did we know that the room was located at the front of the building, alongside a busy street. The room was so hot and we could not turn down the heating. We could not open the window because of the noise from the street. At 3am the radiator was still piping hot, the knob on the radiator had apparently broken and was lying on the tablet above it. When we mentioned this the next morning the woman at the front desk looked at us, insinuating that we had broken it. Somebody also mentioned that the night staff had forgotten to turn down the central heating. When we came back the following evening the radiators in both the bedroom and bathroom were off. The staff promised us that they would come back on at 6am. The next morning it was icy cold. When my husband went downstairs to inquire in order to have some heating in the bathroom, he received a severe reprimand: you are always complaining. They laughed it off by saying, one day it is too hot in your room and the next day it is too cold. They claimed the thermostat was switched on. When we came downstairs to check out, this time we gave breakfast a miss. The woman, without any friendliness, admitted that there was something wrong with the heating on the whole floor. She then deducted €10 from our bill for the inconvenience. It would have been nice if everything had been handled in a more friendly way. It was just not possible to get a smile from any of the staff.
The location is ok for the church of the Santo and the Prato della Valle. For all the other sightseeing you have to walk a long way.
Wifi was working on and off. When I inquired about that I was told I was the first person who mentioned this!
Breakfast was minimal. Just some sweet pre-packed stuff and dry toast. When I asked for yogurt I was told this was not provided.
The bed was comfortable, the bathroom spacious and a good shower. If everything had been working and the staff had been friendlier and more responsive it would have been good value for money.
Good size room for 3 people, good location, friendly staff.
LindaGuireyon 18/10/2016 10:14Great location, walking distance to markets, shops. Good size room for 3 adults. We had breakfast, however limited choices. My daughter has coeliacs and there weren't many options - mainly croissants. Staff were friendly.
Good Location
Jem357on 13/09/2016 11:30Nothing bad to say, just that it could have been better...Perhaps with a fridge in the room, that would certainly help. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and the bathroom was also clean and very spacious. The hotel parking is about 100 metres away from the hotel (sounds like a lot but it`s not really) and it was secure!
We managed to walk from the hotel to the major sights in the old town, the walk is quite comfortable, not at all stressful. The Basilica of St. Anthony is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel and if you plan to see the Scrovegni Chapel I suggest walking as to taking the car, the drive there is somewhat confusing whereas the walk is well signed. A 5 minute walk is also the bus stop from the hotel which takes you to the train station, there we took the regional train to Venice, tickets cost 4,20 per adult one way or 6,20 for 1st class, the only difference between the two classes is that the normal fare is rather full and you may end up standing the 35 minutes, in 1st we had the entire carriage to ourselves. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would not mind staying in Hotel Eden again!
Safe and practical
Lyncrofton 27/07/2016 15:45This little hotel is located near the St-Anthony Basilica, the Prato della Valle and the Botanical Gardens (all within 1 km). From the train station, it is a 2-km walk or less if one takes a tram down the main street to get closer. At less than a kilometer from the city center where all the attractions are, while slightly isolated, it remains a practical choice and definitely an affordable one! For the basic price, one gets a clean room with a decent mattress, a sink, a t.v., a dresser and a table & chair (no air conditioning). However, it is an older building and sound-proofing is next to zero. My single room was on the first floor and I could hear the t.v. from the front desk one floor down, not to mention the neighbors in the other rooms. On the other hand, the street is fairly quiet.
On the plus side also, the wi-fi worked well. The shared bathroom was clean & spacious and hot water came quickly. As well, everyone at the desk was polite and helpful (in English or Italian). Breakfast remains simple with a large cornetto (choice of filling), buns, juice, tea & coffee, and sweet snack. Overall, quite a decent little hotel with a website and booking system that works in both English and Italian for a good price in the center of town. One could do a lot worse!
P.s. Supermercati PamPiazzetta della Garzeria, 3 (near Caffe Pedrocchi)
Great location
Ivana10000on 29/06/2016 18:37Great, great location. Just near the medicine museum and walking distance to botanic garden and churches. But the hotel is not great, room is ok, but nothing special, breakfast is below average. Good place for one night if you're just there for some sightseeing.
