Below average. Magnums is far nicer.
Fred_likes_Breadon 14/06/2017 12:43I stayed here for 2 nights before my Whitsundays boat cruise, and then stayed at Magnums for 4 nights after. Magnums is far nicer and the better hostel.
The only reason one would prefer being at Nomads is because more of the guests are concerned with getting very drunk. Don't get me wrong as a 21 year old I enjoy good nightlife, but I found at Nomads it was just a bit lame.
Anyway, the kitchen facilities are POOR. You are only able to hire a small selection of cutlery, including one plate, one mug and one kife & fork. I was only given a spoon, a plate and a mug though.
The kitchen is a bit knackered and at one point the electrics failed and reception told ME to go and open the switchboard and sort it out. I found reception to be a bit apathetic towards good customer service. They're all young and I just got the impression they were up their own backside a bit. You also get LOADS of people checking out and checking in so it can be awfully slow in the mornings and mid afternoon.
The rooms are alright, pillows were rubbish though. Bathroom facilities are in your dorm cabin and were clean and good.
I gotta say though if you can, stay at Magnums. Far nicer.

Justin Fon 12/06/2017 07:09Fantastic experience, friendly staff and a great on site pub. Good clean kitchen space, and free WiFi. Some rooms are better than others, so ask for one with a higher ceiling. The smaller rooms only have 1 shower and the toilet is in the combined space.
Great spot but very unhelpful staff
Ihsana Šon 11/06/2017 23:26The two that work in the travel part are great and super helpful the English bloke and blonde Aussie lass :) for the rest I found quiet un caring and un helpful . Also they drink at the bar and don't really associate with outsiders. Awesome spot to stay other then that just bring your own pillow as u won't get any sleep with the ones they provide in the private room. I would stay again .right in the heart of all the action.
Best hostel experience I've had in Australia!
RTV2095on 10/06/2017 04:07Unbeatable location and with a room right off of the pool! Can be a bit noisy at night, but who stays at a hostel for peace and quiet? They always turned down the music by 11pm. Facilities were clean and comfortable for what you pay. Wifi was not the best if you're an international traveller relying on such. Base and Nomads apparently have merged as one giant hostel so it's like you're staying on a massive grounds of backpackers. Too much fun and extremely easy to meet people! All of the tours I looked at for the area also pick up right from the front, which was extremely convenient! I had a fantastic experience and know I will be back!
Worst night in Australia
Vicky Ron 06/06/2017 08:16At first glance it looks like a beautiful place with nice blocks, birds and bush. The trouble is that it's a big party place. They have a no alcohol policy so you'd think the party would be restricted to the bar, but you'd be wrong. Every fifth camper had an outside stereo going into the night. We couldn't get to sleep until 3.30 am, when our neighbours finally fell over drunk, even thoughwe'd asked them to quieten down at 11 pm. The only security we could find, at the bar, refused to leave and didn't help us call the campground security. They were meant to be doing rounds, but were nowhere to be found.
The combination of irresponsive campsite and inconsiderate guests makes me wish we'd never want in the door. I would only recommend the place if you're willing to stay up until all hours and be at the mercy of others at the candidate
