Excellent airport hotel but insufficient air conditioning
Adrian Lon 28/06/2017 03:23This is what I believe my third review of the hotel. I decide to write again because I stayed at a suite this time. I am not going to compare it to suites of other hotels because it is just an airport hotel. The suite features an additional living room, a tub, and separate toilet and shower (but rainforest shower wasn't working). The room itself was fine and I appreciate the giant view of the airport with views of both runways. The service was excellent as usual from front desk to the executive lounge staffs. The executive lounge was alright with a better breakfast selection now but evening reception is still a bit weak. I missed the old days when each guest got an individual plate of warmed dishes.
However, Taipei is very hot in the summer and on my stay, it was 90 degrees and was hot everywhere. First the shuttle was extremely warmed and their a/c was definitely not working. Second, the main lobby was also very warm. The coolest place of the hotel is actually the elevator. The lounge was sort of alright, but my room was very hot. I know the view possibly meant the room was exposed to much heat. However, I decided to close all the curtains in the bedroom, shut all the doors including the two leading to the living room and the one leading to bathroom. I turned it to its highest setting at 19 degrees Celsius with higher fan setting. However even after a few hours, the room barely dropped below 26 degrees Celsius. The room was slightly cooler in the overnight hour but it was basically not an acceptable situation. The lounge attendant offered to send an engineer but I was too tired as of that point. However, in hindsight, I should have asked for one when I checked in at the afternoon. My theory is that basically they actually purposefully turned down the A/C in the suite section since they don't have many guests. However they forgot to return it to the normal setting when I checked in or checked if they could get away with it. It is a frequent trick used by Taiwanese hotels. I could not imagine that turning the highest setting and closing all the curtain could not achieve the 19 degrees environment.
My advice is that "if your a/c is not working, it is not because it is hot but the hotel plays around with the setting Their engineers will reset it to its powerful setting once you called them."
As I said before, this hotel is good for overnight stays with scheduled bus services to Taoyuan High Speed Railway station, and frequent shuttles to airport (twice per hour during the normal hours). Taoyuan city is about 20 minutes taxi ride from the hotel but remember to get a hotel name card because drivers in Taoyuan speak no or little English. There is also no convenient stores near the hotels so get your snacks before coming to hotel. I will return to this hotel again but hopefully will come when it is less hot!

TonyEBettson 27/06/2017 11:45They promote as the only 5 star but it definitely is not. Very expensive room rate though convenient for the airport. Rooms are small and in need of a lot of TLC, lots of chipped formica makes it look rundown. Bathroom is good with lcd privacy glass which is fun.
TV in room has terrible reception
Restaurant has an incredible buffet, everything you could want so makes up for the room quality

WorldTravelers2000on 27/06/2017 00:13Needed a place to stay overnight in between flights and this hotel fit the bill perfectly. Free shuttle to and from the airport. The dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent and the rooms very clean and non-smoking. What more can someone ask for. If you want to go out, you can get the train, but fir me it was too much hassle for a few hours.

kmgkon 22/06/2017 08:32Clean, beautiful and very convenient when getting to Taipei Taoyuan Airport. The Taiwanese (or Chinese) restaurant serves excellent food and has a wonderful ambience overall. Love the pool combined in the same area as the kiddie pool, jacuzzi and steam room. Very cozy. Rooms are a little small (normal for Taiwan) but perfect for a layover. Definitely my choice in the Taoyuan area when getting to the airport for an early morning flight.

MYL868on 21/06/2017 02:12The hotel is located right next to the TPE international airport and the exit of Taoyuan-Taipei Subway. You can take the subway to the city of Taipei in 35 minutes. It is really convenience if you only have 1 night to stay in Taiwan.
