Not the best variant
Anny Don 09/08/2014 17:19In comparison with other hotels I've been it's not the best one. The beach is always very crouded and there are no places. When the cleaner was cleaning our room she always forgot to give smth (towels or shampoo or smth else). And problems with air conditioner all the time. Not all the stuff is speaking English and sometimes it was pretty hard to explain smth. As for me I wouldn't go there again.
Fantastic stay
Farzaneton 10/07/2014 12:32Super friendly, helpful staff, breakfast and dinner included (buffet) and were pretty good, variety of meat, salad and desert. Steps from an awesome beach but way too crowded .. The pool area is also quiet nice .. There is a tv and a projector screen in the lobby area where we could watch soccer .. Room was basic, we had a beautiful sea view, noise did not bother us.. There are some restaurants and markets around the corner .. Some fruit markets 10 min drive.. Parking is around the corner, 2 min walk.. You can ask reception to park your car for you.. We had a great time and strongly recommend it!
Right on the sea, but noisy and tired
KarenLibrarianon 17/10/2013 21:22This hotel is right on the beach and has its own pool, but other than that, has not got much going for it. They seem to cater to the young traveling drinking crowd, blasting techno music all day and tolerating/encouraging drunken behaviour in the lobby and at the poolside. The walls are paper-thin so you can hear your neighbour's TV, and the whole place could do with a facelift.
While others have rated the staff highly, we found them indifferent at best. Pleasant, as long as you didn't want them to actually do anything.
A little haven
hospitalmanon 07/10/2013 22:18My wife and I have recently returned from 2 weeks at The Hotel Orion, Altinkum.
Positioned right on the beach on the outskirts of Altinkum, this hotel offers clean, functional rooms.
The staff are some of the nicest, friendliest that I have come across in a long time. From the moment we checked in, we were made to feel comfortable and at home.
Our room was spotless and the linen changed very regularly. Breakfast was typical Turkish buffet style, but English breakfast was available at a price if you asked for it. Evening meal was also buffet style and basically Turkish. The were always 2 types of soup available, two main couses with accompanying vegetables and a pasta option for the less adventurous. The desert paltter, although Turkish was very variable.
It has to be remembered that a large number of guests at the Orion are Turkish or Russian with the occassional other national. Therefore, the entertainment is mostly Turkish music played on a keyboard with a singer to accompany.
The hotel offers a small pool, which at night becomes a water feature.
We met guests from a neigbouring hotel who were not particularly happy with their accommodation and were interested in what we were experiencing in ours. Some had called in to use the bar and were really impressed with the welcome that they were receiving.
We would be more than happy to return to this hotel again in the future.
Pleasant enjoyable two night stay
Catherine-Smith055on 12/06/2013 21:03We stayed at the Orion for two nights whilst on our travels along the west coast of Turkey. The Orion was perfect, the location, the helpful staff, particularly in helping us with our ongoing travel plans. It was a shame we could only stay for two nights. I would definitely stay there again.
