Stayed here with friends in June. The hotel itself is about 15 minutes from the old town at the top of a rather steep hill, and about 8 euros in a taxi to the new town. You also have to cross a few main roads on the way down. The accommodation is basic but did the trick for an adult only self catering break. The grounds and hotel rooms were clean and spacious, and the staff at reception were lovely. The food at the hotel pool bar was ok, but really over priced, e.g. 4 euro for a toastie and 7.50 for a breakfast- not great value, and a lot more expensive than in town. The beer was good, but at 3.50 a pint it was the most expensive I had it Albufeira. There was a shop beside reception which did the basics but it was more expensive that the Supermarket 3 mins down the road. The hotel had a second bar which opened at night but we didn't venture in as it was always empty. Overall a nice hotel, but location was a big drawback, and I think the price of food and drinks at the hotel have been hiked up in the expectation that people don't want to walk up and down to the resort 3 times a day so will pay it especially if traveling with young children.
Staff were nice although the receptionist when we first arrived wasn't too happy, still gave us the run down of the area. Apartment was good has all amenities needed in order to live but just that, nothing too special about the complex the bar was very quiet and the pool very loud during the day, the location isn't too good if you arnt in a walking mood, it's a 15 minutes walk down hill to reach the town and a good 25 if not more minutes walk back up (all uphill). The local mini market (just down the road) isn't too bad has everything you'd need and is much cheaper then the shop in the complex. There is a Lidl about 20mins walk away and if you plan on carrying your shopping back to the apartment I'd advise a taxi for €5 its worth it believe me. More of a family oriented complex if your looking to take it easy and relax id maybe advise somewhere else.
I booked these apartments through Easyjet holidays as a cheap getaway at the end of April. I was wary of what it would be like with the price being so cheap so did quite a lot of reading on trip advisor beforehand.
The reviews were mostly good so I booked up and, upon recommendation of other travellers, emailed the apartments to request a top floor apartment. I would REALLY recommend doing this, we requested the top floor and had a roof top sun terrace all to ourselves, it was really lovely with great views.
The other main piece of advice was to book the one bedroom apartment instead of studio, we didn't do this and thought we would pay the extra to have them open the room if need be when we got there. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room and had no need for the extra space for just the two of us. The beds were pullouts from the sofas and one was a lot more comfortable than the other (being a gent, my husband took the less comfy!).
The rooms were clean and spacious and actually really nice. There was housekeeping most days and the ladies were also really friendly. Staff in the Reception were so helpful and couldn't do enough to help you out with any questions or requests. I do believe in treat people the way you expect to be treated and found this to be true after reading a lot of reviews complaining about the staff. We found them to be completely accommodating and welcoming.
The public areas were quiet while we were there, being early season I think. There's a lovely pool and more than enough loungers. There's a nice little pool bar serving food and drinks, we didn't eat here but did have a few drinks which again we can't complain about at all! There's also an indoor pool and jacuzzi, handy for days when it's a little chillier!
The pool bar closes in the evening and the main bar opens, again we found it to be quiet and drinks a little more expensive than in the bars in the old town but nice none-the-less. We did have pizza in here one day when it rained and we didn't go out and i wouldn't recommend it. For the price and quality you would be far better paying for a taxi down to the old town and going somewhere there. Having said that, drinks and cocktails were nice.
These apartments are about a 10 minute walk from the old town (which is lovely!) and in a really good location. It is quite a steep hill down so obviously you have to walk back up on the way home! My husband and I are both young and fit so didn't mind at all, particularly after a few beers! But if you are less able don't let this put you off, taxis are plentiful and cheap enough in town, and for the outward journey the Reception staff are happy to ring one for you.
I don't know what more I can say about this place, we really weren't expecting a lot but had an amazing holiday and would definitely return to this complex. Good location, clean and tidy, good facilities and spot on staff!
Stayed here at Pateo Village for a 7 nights last week. We found the apartments really spacious with a large bedroom, bathroom and living room with patio doors leading onto the garden and pools. The apartments are built for self catering and they have all the essentials you will need with large supermarkets only a 15minute walk...up a hill.
The swimming pool is a really good size and is well maintained. The area around the pool is clean but with a rather expensive bar.
Getting into Old Town for bars and restaurants is easy enough, about a 20 minute walk down hill, so be prepared for a uphill walk on the way back. Taxis can be ordered from the reception. The lady Sandra on reception is very helpful and will do her best to help out where she can. Day trips also have a 10% in reception unlike in town.
Overall we had a really good and would definetly use Pateo again.
We stayed in Pateo Village for 7 nights in May
At check in & thoughout our stay i found the receptionist to be very rude, I understand that she does work long hours but still! I work in the same profession & I would never greet or talk to guests that way.
Rooms are basic but clean, walls are paper thin though!! we could hear everything, next door going for a shower etc
Old town is about 5 mins drive away in a taxi , u can walk but it is all steep hills.
Taxi was only around €7 so we didnt mind.
Overall we had a good week but dont think I would be returning to Pateo Village
