A Cozy Comfortable place to stay

It is located in two separate floors of a building near the end of Nevisky prospect. Not a very big and famous hotel but a good place to stay. The reception works 24 hours in the second floor. The receptionists are very good and kind. They speak a good English and are quite helpful. (Thanks to one of them who specially let me print my notes without any charge).
My husband and I stayed there 6 nights (double bed room); a quite normal size room with a TV (which we never turned on), a mirror and a small table, a twin wardrobe and two small drawers beside bed. The bed was actually two beds put aside each other but the mattress and blankets were comfortable. There was also an electric heater in them room which was essential in mid September.
The bathroom included a toilet, a washbasin and a shower stand, quite comfortable.
There was a free wifi in the hotel and we used it in our room on the third floor facing the street (736) without any problem.
The only thing about this hotel is the very simple breakfast, there are bread, milk, fruit juice, jam, tea and coffee everymorning, Some days some sausages and some day boiled eggs are added to the menu. It is simple, but adequate to do a day with.
Totally it costs the value.

A hotel for sleeping

Hotel Pilau (do not mix it up with the hostel of the same name) takes two floors in one of the impressive, stone- facaded buildings on Nevsky prospect. This place is like a walnut- you can reveal it step by step... Actually, the way to the bed passes through two epochs, and you should not rush to draw any conclusions in advance.
Crossing the threshold of the house, guests find themselves in a big hall. If you are not too tired, you could afford some nostalgy... Standing wall ornaments remind about pre- revolutionary days of XIX- XX century. Maybe former house owners have met here their celebrities?
At the far end of the room is placed a wooden screen, behind that sit the guard. Front stairs near follow to the solid wooden door on next floor. You have to push the door- bell... And then you might be allowed to enter to the reception- room on the other side.
What does need I traveller: a smile, good service, a light and quite room, shower and soft bed... All this can be found in hotel Pilau. The place has been re- novated three- four months ago, it is clean and cozy. The staff is kind. Free wi- fi Internet access is available.
In my mind Pilau deserves its three- stars category much more than similar hotels in Paris.
The only inconvenience I faced there was payment. There is not a card- terminal on the reception and all services should be paid in cash.
Then, if I was in manager' s place, I would think about breakfast' s menu- it seemed a little scanty.
Also, there was a moment, when somebody organized a midnight scandal in the corridor. Such accidets could happen everywhre, but anyway, safety and sweet dreams of the guests must be a priority for hotel' s staff.
Generally said, I think, this is a normal place for rest.
