Excellent place to stay - calm and relaxing ambience

Me and my husband stayed in Promenade Hotel just for one hight during our travel across Kurzeme. I can surely say that it was one of the most pleasant hotel experiences in Latvia so far . We arrived early, before the check in hours, and were asked to wait a bit, to confirm if our room was ready. After a few minutes , the room availability was confirmed and we made a check-in.

Hotel in general, as well as individual rooms, felt spacious and very relaxing. Hotel decoration is very well done - not pretentious or flashy, but understated and with a slightly rustic twist. I was very pleased to see paintings from various Latvian painters on the walls. Hotel had an ambience
scent with tones of wood and herbs that only further created enjoyable experience.

Our room was spacious, with a nicely sized and equipped bathroom (it had bath robes, slippers, shower cap and all other things you might need). We ended up having our dinner in the hotel restaurant that was nice as well - fairly priced food with an excellent quality, wine list-not so much, slightly overpriced and not very wide choice, but I have seen worst. Breakfast was good, had everything we wanted. In general - very pleasant stay and I would highly recommend. Will definitely return when visiting Liepaja again.

Hotel with lots of character

I stayed at the Promenade Hotel in Liepaja for 5 nights with my family whilst attending a wedding in nearby Grobina. Liepaja is a small coastal resort 191 kms from Riga and has a georgeous sandy beach which stretches off in to the distance and was not at all crowded.
Hotel description - the hotel had an excellent location next to the waterfront and had ample parking out front. It had been converted from a warehouse in 2007 to an very high standard with natural brick finish and enormous wooden beams throughout. It was situated within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the concert hall and had an adjacent casino which we did not visit.
Accommodation - we had booked double rooms which were large and very tastefully furnished with the aforementioned wooden beam features. The king size bed was firm but comfortable, but lights from the car park seemed to illuminate the room at night even though the rather small curtains were drawn shut. This did not make getting to sleep very easy. A less pleasing feature of the room was the translucent glass doors on the shower room and toilet room which made privacy rather difficult. No hooks were available for bath robes, there was no heating and the wash hand basin unit was situated in the bedroom so brushing of teeth, gargling and other grooming matters were not in private. The glass doors would also present a hazard to children.
Food - the breakfast selection was very good with a pleasing selection of hot and cold choices, fruits, juices, teas and coffees and also bucks fizz. The breakfast room staff were very pleasant and attentive which is appreciated by a non-morning person. We also had evening meals from the a la carte menu which were excellent and very reasonable in price. The wine selection was also good.
Bedroom privacy issues apart, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes hotels with a bit of character in a central location. From a scan of the available options this is seems the best place available in Liepaja for both quality and price

Good place to stay

I visited this hotel twice in the last couple of months. The location is central, it is not a big city so everywhere is pretty much walking distance anyway. There is free parking and free wifi. However, the bandwidth/reception was poor the first time I stayed there but the second time I had no problems. But the TV was one of the first versions of LCD TVs I think and the picture quality was very poor. Not that I wanted to watch TV but it does not suit to a 5 star hotel.

Bathroom and the condition of the room is very good. However, the bed was too firm for my taste and not very comfortable.

The free breakfast was basic as expected, very limited hot drinks (only coffee and selection of herbal teas and don't expect free cappuccino or latte etc.)

Overall good value for money and I would go back there again.

Cozy rooms, great food

The room was large but cozy and very clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpful! The food was excellent, well presented and very tasty. I had considered staying an extra day to enjoy the service and other items on the menu.

Some superb attributes, others not so good. Staff were brilliant and the restaurant food and service were of a very high quality. Location is perfect.
Not so good - the only power point in our room was low on the wall beneath the table, very difficult to get to. The curtains were very thin, with an easterly facing room it was like daylight come 6 AM. We took our dog with us, we expect and are used to being charged for her, but I thought that 14 Euros per night was rather excessive.
All minor points but enough for me to not give that elusive 5th star!
