What People are saying

My worst experience

Freddy Pon 16/02/2017 18:13

I was not leaving this comment if I was not entirely sure what happened at this place. I went to spend a night with my fiancee. when we returned from the hotel restaurant for the dinner; the room was tidy, we found strange at the same time was a nice touch.
The next morning, when we packed our things, I realized that my sunglasses were missing. After looking around the room, we went to complain to the reception and the manager told us that it was not uncommon for things to be lost.
We asked to speak to the manager and I was shocked that she was asking us if she could check our stuff and open our suitcase in front of her and look for all our stuff. As if we were lying. After more than two hours the lenses appeared.
We could not waste any more time in that place and asked for a solution, the manager promised to give us a solution in two days because we had to communicate with the owners to try to get a refund, it has been 17 days and we have not received any response or Called by them. I have called several times to try to solve this problem and I am denied to the manager saying that it is busy and will call back.
I will never go back to that place.

Off the beaten path close to valle sagrado - beautiful property by the river. Breathtaking view of the mountains

We visited this lodge last year (2015) when it was Qawana Lodge. We were there during low season and were the only guests at the hotel. The manager back then was a charming lady by the name of Vicky who made us feel as if we were staying at a friend's home. The service was personal and they went out of the way to make us feel at home.
I don't know it is been sold but the property is simple and beautiful. The key points are the proximity to the river and the mountains. We were upgraded to the suites, so we had plenty of room and a balcony. Truly enjoyed our stay here.
On the negative side, it is out of the way so you have to take a taxi to go anywhere but that was not a problem for us.

Not as nice as I had hoped

My daughter and I spent 2 nights here and our stay was not what I expected. The building is very attractive and our room was spacious and comfortable. All of the people who work here are friendly and helpful. However, there were a lot of things that weren't right. The shower flooded the bathroom floor, there was no bottled water available, no Wifi or computer in lobby (web site says there is wifi), and no heat (down comforters are good) means you will be quite cold when you get out of the shower in the morning. The location is off the main road so it's a bit isolated. The restaurant is also rather odd (and very cold in the evening and morning without heat). The dinner entrees do not come with anything; I ordered the chicken in mustard sauce and that's all I got. No rice, bread, or anything else. The breakfast was very good, with eggs, fruit, yogurt, bread, and juice.

Let down

A group of 6 of us travelled Peru in January 2016. Our first stop was at the Qawana Lodge, close to Machu Picchu. This ambitious lodge fell far from expectations. Situated by the side of a river, it offers a green belt on one side and corn fields on the other. Our driver barely found it. Although spacious and nicely appointed, the rooms (with balconies or patios) had no heat, inadequate bedding for the cold nights, and cold water for showers. It has a restaurant that had spotty food. One day we had a very good lunch, the next day we had a horrible dinner (2 chefs?). The luncheon salad was unwashed and incorporated dirt and pebbles, the dinner used excessive salt. The worst part of this lodge was the neighboring owner's property with its multitude of dogs. These dogs barked and howled all night and during the daytime when we were there, and when I went on a photo exploratory walk they formed a pack and chased me. I would definitely say skip this place. It needs work.

An oasis in the Valley

Just came back from a trip to Peru via Machu Picchu and found this amazing place tucked away in the Sacred Valley. Victoria speaks both English and Spanish and was a tremendous help with our stay there. You can find her in reservations at the front desk. The Lodge is beautiful, scenic and just so relaxing. I would recommend this to anyone traveling in the Cusco/Sacred Valley area. The food is delicious, the prices reasonable and a respite from weary traveling. It was worth $100/night if you are looking for good food, service and a scenic place to relax. The staff was excellent and available. We had no problems with hot water or the room. There is not very much to do in the town near Calca but traveling by taxi into Pisac for the market/town is really nice.
