What People are saying

200 m de la plage avec piscine, excellent localisation

sylviesapeyon 20/08/2015 15:53

it is located in a very nice neighborhood: a few hundred meters from the beach, (small) shops and nice restaurants in the scenic harbour of Cibourne. The town and beach of st Jean de Luz are on a walking distance of 15 minutes, but can also easily reached by bus. There is also a good bus connexion to to the beach of Hendaye and from there the scenic town of Honnaribia (Spain) can be reached by foot-ferry. The apartment was located in a small and quiet complex of apartments that share a nice swimming-pool, table-tennis and some other facilities. The apartment itself was in a very good state, clean and contained a well equipped kitchen, washing machine and a nice balcony. We enjoyed the apartment and the environment very much and can recommend it to anybody who is interested in a comfortable apartment close to the beach in an interesting neighborhood.

First the good ---- 1) rooms were well appointed and our apartment had a good view 2) easy access to lots of places on the Basque coast, by car. 3) Easy check-in process though we arrived late at night during off-season

The niggles ------
1) tiny TV - really needs updating 2) Not enough plug points in the apartment 3) avoid this place if Wi-Fi connectivity from the comfort of your room is important. Firstly Wi-Fi needs to be paid for and it is only available in the lobby. I needed to stay connected to work (my job requires it) and this was a major hassle for me 4) the facilities such as swimming pool, playground etc dont seem to be in use during off-season. We stayed during Easter holidays and kids could not use the swimming pool. 5) breakfast needs to be booked well-ahead and we found the procedure a bit complicated 6) I would say this place is basic budget-friendly accommodation with clear disadvantages. If you can live with these, it is a decent place to stay in.

Great Location but little niggles

First - this is a great location. Locally you can walk in two directions to restaurants, small supermarket and bakers. Just beyond Hendaye Plage and St Jean de Luz are very nice resorts (but different). Further afield there is the beautiful Basque country in the foothills of the Pyrenees and I can recommend a trip at least to Ascain and Sare even if you came for a beach holiday.
We had no complaints about the size of our 1 bedroom appartment (87) - frankly it was huge with a balcony and the bedroom upstairs. The finishing left something to be desired - eg doors that met at the top but were 5cm adrift at the bottom.
The most disappointing aspect was the parsimony of the provisions - 2 sachets of shower gel are enough for me only and once only. No dish cloth, no washing up liquid, no tablets for the dishwasher............Allso the chairs that converted to beds were uncomfortable and there were no cushions which would have improved matters
The receptionist was great and the other staff friendly and helpful. However reception was only manned part time. There was a modest charge for wifi.
I would definitely stay here again but don't come here and expect to be waited on hand and food and have every need met!!

I will never go back!

It was in a great location, near the beach and the back of it was on a tidal river that had a walkway next to it. So it was very quiet at night, and pleasant to walk along the river. The walkway also took you out to the main road where there were restaurants. We enjoyed walking to an from dinner and not having to take the car out. It had many activities for children (of which we had none) - a pool, safe grass area out behind the buildings with a playground, and inside games like foozball and pool.

If you are traveling there from the US, beware a double bed means a double bed, which is very small. It also, was only a mattress on slats several inches above the floor. The room was so small, there was no place to put your suitcases (we each had a med size one and a carry on size). There was a living room with two couch/day beds, one of which our adult son was going to sleep on, so that left all of our bags in the hall for us to trip over and middle of the living room. I would definitely not say this apt. was large enough for 3 people. Also, being "an apt." as the hotel staff reminded me, that does not include towels, soap, shampoo, etc. In their web site it very clearly says if you are staying there for 2 days or more, towels ARE included. We had two very small towels but none for our son. When I asked the staff at the desk, I was told we really weren't supposed to have ANY towels because they are apts. not a hotel! She finally gave me another towel, but let me know I wasn't supposed to have it. I told her I was not about to pack towels in the uUS and haul them all the way to France for 2 nights in their "apt.!"

When you leave, you have to strip your beds, and take out any trash. They also come in with a check list for all of the kitchen items, so make sure they are all there when you first check into the room!

Also, this is mainly a family place, so there are lots of kids running around and making noise in the pool under your balcony, and outside on their balcony. Normaly, this wouldn't be a problem, as I would just close the patio door to the balcony, but their is no air conditioning, so you have to leave the door open so a breeze comes through your rooms.

It is quiet at night, but don't plan on taking any naps during the day! Breakfast was supposed to be from 9 - 11, but at 9:45 they kicked us out saying there was going to be a meeting in that room! What?

The staff is only there for day time hours, so if there is a problem later, there is no one to call.

only birds to wake you up under a magical scenary

amazing spot overlooking the sea at only twenty minutes from the Spane border ideal for shopping! With a huge swimming pool, lovely buildings, this Pierre et Vacances is one of the best ones in France. The charming manager Katia is not only smiling all the time, but very helpful to indicate you what to do if you get bored sunbathing. This place is also ideal with kids. A real paradise where in the morning you are only waken up by birds!
