We stayed in an economy apartment and so did not expect luxury. The accommodation was amazing and in a very good location. The apartment was roomy and comfortable with a great view! It was fantastic value for money! Elodie in Reception could not have been more helpful and gave us some great ideas for planning our week e.g. where to eat, where to ski and where to walk! Thank you for helping to make our week in the Pyrenees great Elodie! An added bonus was having a designated parking space in the covered carpark. We hope to return in March
Balcon de Neste offers good value for money apartments in an ideal spot to explore the haute Pyrennees. The location is very central to all Tour de France routes and the beautiful valleys of the River Louron and Aure. The staff at the hotel were very helpful.
We chose an apartment for 6 even though there was 3 of us travelling. I think had there been 6 of us it might have been a bit cosy for 6 adults or a family with teenagers but it would be perfect for a family with small children as long as they were old enough to sleep in bunk beds.
We chose the accommodation because of the location which was perfect and the pool. Unfortunately the pool did not do it for us as it was small and looked a bit murky with a few wobbly tiles. However, it was constantly used by other residents who did not appear to have any problem with it.
Overall despite this great place, great location. Definitely ask for a room with a view as that helped make our holiday.
Arreau is great, quiet but with a very definite charm and heart to it.
Before I start our apartment cost approximately €10 per person per day so please do not expect a high class apartment
Having guy that off my chest the room had bedding, towels, a cooker, microwave, ample cooking utensils, stunning views, a bath/shower, tv and a shared pool
Situated at the base of both the Aspin and Perysourde it's a fantastic base for riding The Tourmalet is a 40km ride each way to the summit and Cap du Lac du Long is well worth a visit 30 km to the top lake
Each apartment has its own underground parking.
Arreau town has some bars and places to eat, a pretty place where you can relax with the locals
Value for money, cheap but ticks every box
On a final footnote please ensure you are able to access keys on arrival, I e mailed to no avail and when we finally arrived the reception was shut and we could not find where we were staying eventually a chap appeared as if by magic opened a wall safe and held inside were three envelopes one containing my key
We booked a last minute 3 nights stay and have had a brilliant experience. The ladies at reception were so helpful in giving us local information and making our stay as comfortable as possible. The apartment is basic but has everything you need and the views are incredible. The swimming pool is a great addition and the apartments are very well located, just a stroll away from the centre of gorgeous Arreau. We have explored the mountains and the local markets and have made meals in our apartment as we have a toddler and it's been such a lovely time. The shower, hairdryer and the kitchen facilities work really well. To make it perfect I would like a kettle...there was a coffee maker but we are not used to that. Thank you for a great stay 😊
Couldn't fault the place. Excellent communication by mail (Elodie) prior to arrival. Excellent welcome from Julie. Impeccable flat - clean, warm, well-equipped and peaceful. I was alone but opted for a 2-4 person flat 'confort' meaning everything was included - wifi (excellent connection Bâtiment A 2nd floor), towels, bed linen - even a clever pack with washing up liquid, general purpose cleaner, scourer and teatowel. Even the hair-dryer was good! If you don't opt for 'confort', the things I have mentioned are on option, but this is explained on their website.
You get an assigned parking space with the flat too. The only thing I needed which I forgot to bring was coffee filters (48 centimes Intermarché Ancizan - best supermarket around - wonderful cheese, meat and fish). I spent a week in the flat and after two days it felt like home. I didn't opt for the breakfast because I planned to be in the mountains fairly early each day, but I wouldn't hesitate in the future (wonderful to have a bath to flop into after a day trekking in the hills). There was a pool which I didn't use because I forgot my costume and even a fitness room. The place is perfectly situated just a stride away from the centre and right near the road to Louron and Aure valleys. Julie told me that the family rooms (4-6 people) are on the west side with a great view of the valley, the 2-4 person rooms are on 'the edges' (where I was)- I was chuffed with mine as I had a view of the trees and hedges behind the building which were full of birds - and in the morning and evening, the chorus of birdsong was fantastic. The single rooms face the back but frankly, the view is just fine - towards bâtiment B and C it is just countryside and from bâtiment A you can see the same plus a view of Arreau. I left the flat as I found it and there were no extras for 'cleaning' as some people have suggested. I will certainly be returning. Thanks Les Balcons!!
