Good for Svalbard , not acceptable for anywhere elese
Npasxaon 04/06/2017 13:27There are only 3 top hotels in Svalbard so options are limited. Of course you do not wait for a high standard hotel , but Radisson is far below that. Svalbard Hotel is by far better and same priced.
Location is perfect but the hotel needs urgent renovation.
Heating was not working in our first 2 nights and after complaining we were offered a better suite but also with no heating. Finally the system was up during our third day.
You can not control temperature in your room !!
Service is average, We were told that dinner was served until 11 pm and nobody told us that on our second day there was an exceptional closing of the restaurant at 10ps so we just had a few minutes when we arrived.
They were not able to change my details at check Out and they told me that they need a week !!
We had a wonderful visit to the arcti and we stayed 4 nights in this hotel.
Axu39on 04/06/2017 08:29We found our corner room very cold. The heating did not work during all that week The windows could not be shut properly. They brought a electric heater so all was fine
There was a good sauna which was great for a finn. The roo was nice a d the beds good
The best inthehotel was the food, that was excellent. Also the view fromthe dining room

Great Spot
Erik Won 20/05/2017 20:18We spent 5 nights in the hotel and found it to be fantastic. The staff were extremely friendly and I would single out the bar staff as being a real highlight, they represented the hotel perfectly each and everyone I had the pleasure of dealing with. I visited the restaurant once in the evening and the food was simply exquisite, breakfast was varied and plenty of it too. Junior suite was roomy with a soft comfortable bed and immaculately kept. One small area of disappointment was the lack of black out blinds/curtains particularly at a time of the year when the sun never goes down. Overall however it was a great little find and will certainly look to book again here if I find myself in the Arctic in the future.👍
Best hotel at the North Pole!
MsWithnailon 18/05/2017 10:59It's true - Longyearbyen is a forbidding, desolate iceberg of a place and we were exteremly happy that the Radisson exists. You can't be picky when you're surrounded by polar bears. They have a reception with friendly service, a cozy pub with great staff, a warm and very relaxed atmosphere and warm, clean rooms with soft beds. Oh, and blinds. The sun shines all night. What else could you possibly want?
Best choice in Svalbard, but average hotel
T3Gon 11/05/2017 02:56Svalbard is a small place with few services, so it is only fair to place the comparison in this view. I saw the other two hotels here, and Radisson is the best choice. The rooms are clean and adequate. Could use some updating. I did not find any amenities in the bathrooms at all? The front desk staff are helpful in booking local excursions. There is one restaurant for "fine dining" , which features mostly local items (whale's blubber, reindeer) . The pub is lively and frequented by locals. The food in the pub is not good, but the atmosphere is worth a few hours to visit.
