What People are saying

A wonderful hotel and great value for money

martinp3on 10/07/2017 09:52

We stayed at Rendezvous at the end of June / early July 2017. It was great. Everything a holiday with your spouse / partner should be. - Relaxing, refreshing - I would have no hesitation in recommending. I know that one or two reviews mentioned the aircraft noise and I was almost put-off when we first considered Rendezvous but I shouldn't have been. The hotel is practically at the end of the regional (as opposed to International) airport runway but unless you have an unusually low tolerance for noise it's unlikely to bother you. The planes take-off about once an hour and you hear them for about 2 mins but they are small, turbo-prop planes, not large jet airliners. It's just not an issue.

Coming from the UK we tended to be up early, due to the time difference, which worked well as there is usually an exercise class at 7am. My wife does pilates at home but I don't, however, it was a great way to start the day (alternating with yoga, and on one occasion, Tai Chi) and we had the instructor to ourselves - effectively a private lesson. It takes place on the "Rotund" - a circular area of decking on the beach near the Terrace Restaurant with a canvas cover for protection from the sun (not that it's particularly strong at that time), and occasionally rain. After, you can either go back to the room or straight into breakfast on the terrace, and enjoy the views across the beach to the sea.

DINING: The food is great - we ate lunch and dinner at the terrace for the first few days but soon realised that we would go home about 10 pounds heavier if we carried-on being tempted by the buffet. My wife had made some dinner bookings at the other restaurants before we left but we added to them and started to take lunch in the fantastic Malabar restaurant on the beach, where the waitress service helps add a level of portion control discipline that seemed to elude us at the buffet, and the food is fabulous. Eating at the Malabar at night feels like a very different but equally wonderful experience, with the sound of the waves lapping on the shore mixing with the chorus from the Cicadas and all with sand between your feet. The Trysting place is also a fabulous choice and a great way of adding some variety to your dining.

WATERSPORTS: Personally, I loved them - there is plenty of equipment for the guest numbers and I rarely had to to wait. Hobie Cat sailing, kayaking and water-skiing were all refreshed or, in the case of paddle-boarding, tried. I also renewed my love-hate relationship with windsurfing, not so successfully. I'm a holiday / intermediate windsurfer, at best, and the rather gusty wind that I had noticed on the Hobie Cat was not ideal. I think you probably need to be pretty accomplished but having watched one of the watersports staff it's clear that good windsurfing is achievable if you have the skill to master the conditions. My wife and I also took a ringo / tubing trip which was a lot of fun.

I usually like to leave a couple of 'could be even better if ...' comments in these reviews, more for the hotel management, in case they read them. My two issues would be: (1) The room smelt musty when we first arrived, which sometimes happens when the air-conditioning is first switched-on after a period when it wasn't used. We got used to it very quickly although it was still noticeable when we came back to the room, for the first few days. (2) There are 2 or 3 cats which roam the Terrace and Malabar restaurants begging for food (not the Trysting Place, which is in a traditional, walled room). Personally I tend to think cats and food hygiene don't mix but I guess that depends on whether you're a cat-lover, or not (clearly I'm not). I saw guests feeding them from the table. In the interests of balance I should probably point-out that one of the other guests mentioned that the cats might be there to keep / scare rodents away? I have no way of knowing.

Finally, because I like to finish on a positive note, I would thoroughly recommend an activity that might not necessarily catch your eye in the long list of ways to spend your time but, unexpectedly, turned-out to be one of the highlights of our trip - the Garden Walk. - Our guide was Chantelle who did a great job in pointing-out all the stunning plants in the beautiful Rendezvous grounds and providing interesting background on them. Not wanting to spoil anyone's surprise I won't give away the secret of the Canonball tree but suffice to say my wife went back to it every day for the rest of the holiday.

Enjoy.

A trip to remember

After reading the reviews of Rendezvous our expectations were high and it had a lot to live up to - but it did! There were just a couple of minor negatives for us, the dress code at dinner which when sitting basically on the beach seems a little unnecessary! The only exception could perhaps be in Trysting place. Also the reception team, we found them to be unapproachable, could not answer simple questions and everything felt like it was too much trouble. For every other staff member, however, this was the total opposite! They could not do enough for you, the beach and pool drink service was amazing you wouldn't go 20 minutes without a drink, cold towel or coconut water. Glenn was the best! Also the waiting and bar staff in all the restaurants and bars were lovely.

The facilities were great. We stayed in a garden room which was fine - the turn down service and pillow menu both lovely touches. Water sports were fab with sailing, wake boarding, tubing and kayaking. The water sports team were really good too. We had a massage which we were pleased we did but didn't blow us away. We didn't really get involved in the other activities of which there are plenty if you'd like to move from your sun lounger! There was always sun beds available at the pool or the beach. We didn't use the main pool but the lazy river, garden pools and beach were all really quiet and relaxing - the lazy river especially. There were locals on the beach almost everyday but we didn't mind this and actually enjoyed watching the horses in the sea.

We took a trip to the local market which was okay but nothing special. We also did a trip to the Dennery rainforest and waterfall which was lovely.

You could not fault the food at the terrace or the malabar beach club, breakfast, lunch and dinner were all amazing. The egg lady at breakfast made us smile every day! We had one night at the Trysting Place and that was probably our poorest meal, the food and service were okay but sitting in a closed room when you could be on the beach at the Malabar or basically on the beach in the Terrace seemed crazy to us when in the Carribean.

If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet and chilled holiday we would definitely recommend the Rendezvous!

What a holiday

Just arrived home yesterday from a 2 week holiday and wow what a place to stay.
We had Garden room 310 with a lovely view over the garden pool and out to sea. Usually we holiday at large resorts but found this idyllic small resort more than enough. The food was amazing in all the restaurants and not being buffet all the time in the main restaurant was an added bonus.
All the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for you Cindy and Larna at the poolside bar, Chris and Ian at the main bar (these are just a few of the bar staff but all as good as each other).
The entertainment team are great and don't hassle you if you do not want to take part, the games we did lasted about half an hour so not long away from the sun bed, would like to say thank you to Chantelle, Tania, and Markeem.

If I had a negative it would be the dress rule for the main restaurant 99% of the guests adhered to it and dressed up but the 1% were let in in shorts and occasionally T shirts. If you set a dress code you should enforce it 100%.

Overall we had an amazing holiday and met some wonderful people who we will stay in touch with.
If you want a relaxing holiday with great food, and exceptional staff you cannot go wrong with a stay at the Rendezvous.

Thank you Rendezvous we will be returning.

St Lucia

Fantastic resort, beautiful beach, gardens and pools.
We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at the Rendezvous resort, Castries, St Lucia.
The Rendevous staff are just magnificent, all of them. Nothing is too small for them to deal with.
Every one is friendly, approachable and cannot do enough for you.
We were all inclusive, the food served at the 3 restaurants was fabulous, the best choice and quality that we have ever had.
The drinks service is top notch whether you are on the beach or by the pools or bar. The staff seem to remember very quickly your favorite tipple and a fresh replacement is delivered before you finish your current drink.
The main pool has a swim up bar.
The Spa offers all types of treatments at a very reasonable price.
Sports facilities include Kayaks, Wind surfing, Water skiing, Diving, Catamarans and Ringos, all part of the all inclusive deal.
The rooms are well equipped and comfortable and kept very clean, they all have a view, ours had a garden and sea view from our top floor (level 3) balcony.
Generally St Lucians seem to be very friendly people, the staff of the Rendezvous certainly exemplify this.
We had a great holiday, were spoilt rotten and will return one day.
One word of warning, June is in the so called wet season. It's called a wet season for a very good reason, it rained very heavy showers every day, the temperature never dropped below 28C so it was warm rain, which never threatened to spoil our holiday and the sun soon returned after the torrential showers. Each room included a brolly.

We were really looking forward to our holiday in this quaint resort - On arrival we were shown to a good sized balcony room - it was a little off putting at first that the bath was in the middle of the room but we got used to it.
The setting is fantastic on a wonderful bay. The staff are accomodating and very willing to help - service in the Terrace restaurant could be slow though. However reception and the other staff are all great
Pool areas are good - with plenty of shaded beds - unfortunately my husband slipped in the pool area injuring himself - the staff gave prompt assistance. They accomodated our request to move to a ground floow room after the incident
The pool area does need a few adjustments - hand rails to the end of the steps up and matting down when it has been raining as the floor is very slippery.
Food was good and varied.
