Fun times in Sanya

As we live Shanghai we went on holidays to Sanya in October for a holiday. Intime was exactly what we expected, busy and overwhelming at the breakfast buffet and practically empty at the beach and pool during the day. We had a wonderful time basically having the pool(s) and beach to ourselves and never had to wait for a lounge chair. The dinner buffet at the hotel was geared more towards the local clientele and we (Canadians/Americans) found it to be high in quantity and very low in quality. If you are looking for a holiday with a nice beach, great pool and extremely hot exercise room (just go outside to run), this is the spot for you! Head down the road to Dolphin Bar for some expat fun and good western food.

My 1st choice in Dadonghai Bay

I stayed in this hotel 2 times in 2010 and 2013 and i liked it a lot. The very good access to the beach, nice pools, a nice breakfast ambience (also good quality for breakfast in the middle empire). Room with a view offers nice views over the bay. Hotel seems to be popular with foreigners. Many Russians but also many Europeans. Only downside are quite long walking distances from Room to Pool and vice versa. If i decided to visit Sanya again, i would definitely check this hotel first again.

I had 8 nights here. The room was great. Big double bed. TV. Shower. Bath. All the extras you get with a high quality hotel. Room service was great always did a thorough job of cleaning.

Hotel was 3 restaurants with reasonable prices.

Breakfast was ok. I had 2 free ones but not sure if I would pay for it.

Hotel was swimming pool of a high quality which had numerous sun loungers. Also leads into the dadonghai beach which had hotel sun loungers. Always free never a problem getting one.

Reception staff were nice. English not too good but it worked out ok. Main customers are Chinese and Russian.

The best for me was the concierge. So helpful to me in which busses to get to local attractions. Can't praise them enough.

Location. Close to main bus stop. Ealing distance of 2 malls. Right by dadonghai beach. Lots of shops and restaurants.

Negatives. No wifi in room. English can be a problem.

Overall I was very happy

The hotel photo on booking page is not very appealing, but we enjoyed staying there for six nights. Good pools, direct access to the beach, hotel sunbeds always available at the beach. Large and clean room, separate shower room and toilet. Abundant breakfast buffet included, just to learn to struggle with the hungry Chinese guests... European restaurant has a good menu for dinner and nice wines available (only by bottle), reasonably priced. Personnel do not often speak English, better to learn key words in Chinese (like "cold", if you want to have a cold beer, instead of warm...). Lot of other restaurants in the neighborhood, in the streets and on the beach. Weatherwise Hainan a pleasant surprise, 27-30 C in the daytime end of December.

The best memories of a nice rest and comfort... the best singers in the evening... delicious meals... good service... a nice place to visit, you'll find what to visit and what to see: the island of monkeys or orhids' garden...
