Excellent peaceful Inn!
scwi78on 18/07/2017 21:12Stayed last week for 2 nights with my wife and 2 daughters (12&10) in a family room. Room was great - very comfortable large bed, quiet room and bunk bed for kids that they loved. The bunk beds area had Beatrix potter books on shelves and was partially partitioned off providing the sense of them having their own room and extra privacy. We had breakfast twice, lunch once and dinner twice. Food was excellent. The atmosphere in the hotel/bar is relaxed and friendly. Board games available and some tasty local ales on cask and even some Brewdog on draft too. Lovely outside seating/garden to enjoy after a days walking. The hotel is in a very peaceful area and a 20 minute walk to the ferry over to Bowness (ferry is very regular and only 50p per person) There are nice, flat, easy walks right outside that we did - along to wray castle walking the west shore of Windermere and we also enjoyed the short walk to near sawrey in the evening. All of the staff that we met were friendly and helpful. The only slight negative is unreliable internet but this might be due to generally poor connectivity in such an area and made it even easier to forget the usual life stressors. Whenever we get the chance to go back to the Lake District we will stay here again.
Life Savers! Great service and So Very Helpful
anniea1bon 14/07/2017 02:35We stopped here for dinner before going to our reserved room at the West Vale Inn down the road. When no one was there to let us in, we came back to ask for assistance. They didn't know the owners but they did have a room at the inn that night. They were kind, reassuring and had plenty of parking space in the front. Great breakfast in the morning, and since they didn't have a room for that night, Emily at the front desk kindly went online to help us find a room. I should add that the dinner we had was also excellent.
Highly, highly recommended for friendliness as well as the rooms. And reasonable--a third the price of the place down the road.
Thank you, Emily and all the wonderful staff. You saved our trip and restored our faith in humanity!
Great Location, good drinks and food
Andy-dis-moi-ouion 11/07/2017 14:15A perfect location for walkers after a drink and a bite. Service good - enthusiastic bar staff / sommelier and good food. Nice outdoor area which has lovely views - would recommend if you're in that area.
Fantastic
alanthescot1on 09/07/2017 19:51My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights and were very happy with our stay. Great location, excellent clean room, restaurant/bar served great food and drinks. Breakfast was tasty too. Quiet garden out front for eating and drinking in the sun. Staff were all very helpful and happy in there work, very professional. Free parking, free WiFi. Sometimes though it drops out and no mobile signal, which may sound worrying to some, but to me it was great to feel free from the smart phone.
Will return and would recommend to friends and family.
Excellent.
Fabulous place
Jill Con 04/07/2017 11:15Just spent a couple of nights at the Cuckoo Brow - what a fabulous place. Great walks in the surrounding countryside, easy access to Windermere via the ferry. We could not have been made more welcome with our two labradors, there is even a treat tin for them on the bar. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them .Have already booked to return in November
