Fine place for a 1 night stay

MingQingGalon 04/04/2017 00:15

I stayed for just one night with a friend (it was booked in my friend's name). It was perfect for us to stay at on our way to see the wildflowers in Carrizo Plains Monument. We had a 2nd floor room and easily parked right below the room - short walk from the stairs. The manager of the hotel was very friendly and professional.

The room had carpet, a nice flat screen tv and a clean bathroom. It is close to the freeway but the noise didn't bother me because we had the AC on and I wore an eye mask that covered my ears. I slept like a log.
The room also had a small refrigerator and a small microwave on top. The wifi was free but not great - in fact it was very slow and pretty much unreliable but I didn't really need it much.

Free breakfast in the small lobby had coffee, hot chocolate, raisin bran cereal, frosted cornflakes, toast, and you can make fresh waffles. Everything was too sweet for my taste but there is an IHOP and Jack in the Box and Starbucks within walking distance.

In the morning we were overwhelmed by the smell of manure in the air (no fault of the motel). I guess the farmers nearby get rid of the manure by atomizing it into the air. It was a powerful stink and made us want to avoid walking outside as much as possible. Again, this is no fault of the motel.

I might still consider staying there in the future because the price was really decent and I was able to sleep well and that is all that really mattered to me.

Value Lodging

Nothing fancy about this property, but it was clean, comfortable and affordable. Served well as a stop on I-5 in route to L.A.
It is about 6 miles south of the larger motel fast food cluster at Buttonwillow.
The room was clean and well appointed. The large flat screen TV had a very good channel variety. Everything worked perfectly. Breakfast was a little more than expected at a value motel, they had the usual coffee, danish, cold cereal and surprisingly self-serve fresh cooked waffles.

Basic stop and sleep

Room was clean enough. Definitely in need of some painting and maintenance, however. Nothing particularly exciting about the location. We were not expecting much for the price, but were happy with it overall. Included breakfast is extremely skimpy.

Smells bad...

It was right by I-5, so super loud all night long, couldn't fall asleep at all. No breakfast at 8 am, the waffle mix was gone. Toilet was stuck, really gross. And the beds smell like mold. The price was pretty good though.

Grim!

Hairs in the bed, holes in the sheets, interconnecting door that was open and apparently no key to lock it. Had to drag a very heavy chest of draws across the door to stop anyone gaining entry. Manager was most unhelpful and dismissive. We felt very unsafe and not well rested after our nights stop. Take my advice and avoid at all costs!
