H is for Hostel
Dublin_Madge_Gangon 21/08/2017 23:42We visited this Hostel / Hotel in August for the weekend. The place is severely dilapidated. The room we booked wasn't available so had to use a different room with a shared bathroom. The beds are filthy. The room was filthy. I used the shower mat provided in the room. After I picked it up it was badly stained from absorbing the dirt from the carpet. Staff were lovely at the breakfast but that's about the only positive. I wouldn't stay here again. The windows were full of condensation. I wouldn't have stayed had I known this was a Hostel disguised as a hotel. This is definitely not a hotel. My card was used to pay for the room even though I was lead to believe I was paying at the property. Total shambles. Never again would I stay here. Anyone I spoke to in the area had bad things to say about this property. Usually while staying in Birmingham I used the Holiday Inn which is far superior - 10 star compared to this place.
Overnight dtay
pauline Fon 03/06/2017 21:56Well, The staff were brilliant and helpful. Breakfast was well cooked and presented plenty to eat ,cereal and juice etc.
I am sorry that's where it ends.
The room was awful there were 2 air fresheners, why do you need these the pillows were a disgrace also the bedding needs updating. The bed was pushed to the wall the locker door would not shut so we had to turn it in case of an accident in the night also a single bed.
The room was really only big enough for a double and proper bed side lockers. Also hadn't been hoovered.
Just won't be returning
It looks like a time warp, carpet risers were ripped by our room. Generally needs to be updated throughout.
Fab!
Tracy Jon 20/04/2017 03:50Cosy room with en-suite with a double and a single bed. Comfortable beds so had a good night's sleep. Shower just right with plenty of hot water. Friendly staff. Beautiful presented breakfast with lots to choose from. Worth a visit
No go area
Brie Bon 16/04/2017 20:58Staff during the night were really lovely. Staff in the morning really rude, water cold and no one at front desk to help. Apparently it's switched off at 10am but no one told us. The shower needs fixing as even when the boiler is switched on the water doesn't mix so either really hot or really cold!
Laughably bad.
Mel Jon 03/04/2017 08:59Okay I NEVER write bad reviews but this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at and I've stayed at some pretty bad ones all over the world.
Where to even begin. First I had to haul my heavy suitcase up a couple of very steep flights of steps, however this is not abnormal for England. In my room the cup had lip prints on it and the kettle was old and grotty on arrival. Blankets made me itch like crazy. Had to sleep with the window open because I honestly felt like it was bad for my health breathing in the air in that room. Good luck if you have asthma or allergies. Bugs in the shared bathroom every day. TV from the 70s. Neighbourhood is kinda scary at night. Every now and then the hallway smelt like someone had dropped a turd in it which made no sense since I wasn't even near a bathroom. I stayed at this place for two freakin weeks while visiting a friend because I couldn't afford to move elsewhere. There is very little staff could have fixed by me complaining to reception, this place needs to be completely re-done.
It is cheap (for Birmingham) and reception lady was sweet. That is the only positive thing I can say of this nightmare.
