Charming hotel with Excellent Service
AlexandraJRon 29/08/2017 02:38We chose this hotel as it was close to some old friends we were visiting, and the room was excellent, charming with an excellent modern bathroom. One morning a friend came for breakfast, which was very well done and very good value. The one thing we won't forget here is the service - we arrived at the hotel bar with 6 friends 5 minutes after it closed, and we were so disappointed we couldn't have a nightcap in the exquisite bar. The front desk person called the bartender, who was already walking to the tram, the bartender came back and opened two bottles of wine for us, and allowed us to sit and visit for another hour in the cozy bar. The staff went far beyond good service, to enable us to enjy an evening with old friends. Thank you, Hotel Smolka!
Nice small hotel in convenient neighborhood
XC-TNon 21/08/2017 09:18We stayed there for three nights with our daughter and another family.
Very friendly staff. The hotel rooms were nice and the bathrooms renovated and modern. Breakfast is good and the offer ranges from fruits, bred, cheese and Muesli. There are nice coffees around if you prefer to have breakfast somewhere else. Within walking distance is the U-Bahn "Klosterstern" and "Eppendorfer Baum", which makes it really easy to get to Jungfernstieg of Landungsbrücken etc.
The only slight downside is that the rooms do not isolate noise very well. You can hear people talking in the rooms when passing in front of their doors.
We liked the surroundings very much, quiet and classy. Good restaurants close by.
Parking available in small numbers but not a problem finding a spot if all the hotel parking spaces should be taken.
We will be back!
Romantic Old World Hotel
GoldenTeeon 04/01/2017 16:36Set in an affluent area of Hamburg, close to 3 different tram stops, this hotel is a joy to behold.
Plush furnishings and dark wood make it a great place to stay.
We stayed in an executive room which was very spacious and included coffee machine, full size fridge etc
Slight issue with breakfast - it's not free even though there's no mention of cost anywhere, but this was resolved quickly.
HIGHLY recommended.
Noisy hotel
Walter Lon 17/09/2016 19:14Being there in the time of a trade fair so pricing is sky high. The hotel is decent with a small parking lot (you cannot reserve but I was lucky). Breakfast is good and enough. Friendly staff and large rooms. Only disadvantage it's a noisy hotel where you hear the surrounding rooms pretty good. Elevator is really small, not for claustrophobic people.
a lot of atmosphere and great rooms
pdebbason 11/08/2016 23:50i was on a business trip and wanted a quiet and nice hotel in the centre. so i found the smolka and booked it. what a nice surprise. the rooms were even nicer than on the internet.
what i liked:
- the bed was very comfortable
- the decor of the room
- the very friendly barman
what could be better:
- the size of the bathroom
- the stairway was a bit run down
if in hamburg i will go again.
