Lovely Hotel, Great Value
Icewebon 25/02/2017 23:15I have stayed here before, so thought I should write a review this time! Stayed for one night on this occasion with two work colleagues - we had a business meeting the next day. Rooms are well-equipped, clean and comfortable with free WiFi access. The hotel is on a main street, but the night's sleep was wonderfully peaceful.
Breakfast buffet is self-service and well-stocked.
There is some parking available at the rear of the hotel. If full, I think you can park on the street - just check first!
Beautiful Romantik Hotel
ToriBarryon 06/12/2016 08:58This hotel is just about centrally located in Meinengen. If you visit during the time of the Christmas markets, it is approx. a 10 minute walk to the market itself. It is an historic hotel and every room is different. We were in an incredibly grand former postmaster's room. I believe you could have fit at least 2 king sized beds in the room. The bed was comfortable. We always have to sleep with a window open in the winter because the hotels are always so warm and this hotel wasn't an exception. I have 2 minor complaints. The first is that the lighting in the room was extremely dim. The second is that a large area rug would have made the room more comfortable. The floor boards are original and squeak loudly which can't be helped. It is loud enough to wake you up when your husband, for example, gets up in the middle of the night to walk to the bathroom.
Good stay for Meiningen Theater
Glencheckon 17/01/2016 14:42We stayed here with friends for a weekend including an evening at the Meiningen Theater which is worth to go. The hotel is very central and close to the theater. Rooms and breakfast are a good standard, the price was o.k.. We had a late night drink there as well on the outside seating which overlooks the main street.
Disappointing for a Romantic Hotel
DonPauloon 11/05/2015 21:29We have often stayed at Romantic Hotels and were rarely disappointed. This time we were. The Sachsischer Hof is in a beautiful 115 year old building. We arrived to a full parking lot with others ahead of us waiting to get in. The hotel made other arrangements, but it was a great inconvenience. Our room was ordinary. The toiletries were minimal. Most hotels in this class offer slippers and sometimes bathrobes. Nothing of that sort here. At 122€ per night, this was certainly not a bargain. The breakfast was adequate, if you had the time to wait for the short-handed staff to replace empty item trays. As for variety, we expected much more in a hotel of this class.
The hotel is convenient to the city center. The staff needs reinforcements. For what you get, the price is a poor value. The hotel has unrealized potential, but as we saw it, it was an average hotel at above average prices.

oli_iceon 29/06/2014 22:24Stayed 2-nights on business. Conveniently situated for walking from the train station.
3rd floor room. Small elevator only goes as far as the 2nd floor so not handy if you've lots of luggage. Third floor single room was large enough for sleeping. Good shower in bathroom. Small toiletries supplied. Bed was comfortable. The room itself was very dated and there was obviously water ingress around the windows as the wallpaper was brown and coming off the walls. Breakfast was adequate in choice and quality. Service was good.
